As the left door closed
I pressed a button
For the fourth floor
Your meadow eyes cast a stare
And I didn
t know what you could see
No one can remember how
And I can count
You must be me
You must be me
And I will break again
Before I wouldn
'
t see more
you
stare at
me a window
on a wall that's man black and blue
No one can remember how
And I can count
I must be you
I must be you
I am a headlight
At the working parts under the ship
You can
'
t come into the eye of the storm
Where it
'
s calm
And things go
around
I am entering by glass and by floor
You think I
'
m the flower
I think I
'
m the soil
Go on and touch the eye of the storm
Watch the mirrors
Give me a picture to recognize me more
I will live more to you 10 seconds before
No one can remember how
And
I can count
I must be more
I must be more
No one came in to see
In the lyrics of Kathryn Williams's song "Mirrors," the singer describes a moment of introspection, perhaps in a reflective state of mind. The left door closing symbolizes a turning point or a decision made, leading to a sense of isolation or separation. By pressing a button for the fourth floor, there is a sense of moving upward or progressing in some way. The mention of "meadow eyes" and not knowing what the other person can see suggests a lack of understanding or communication in a relationship. The repetition of "You must be me" hints at a realization of similarity or shared experiences with the other person.
The imagery of staring at a window on a wall that's "man black and blue" evokes a sense of vulnerability or feeling exposed. The reference to a headlight and working parts under the ship suggests a feeling of being a guiding light or being in control amidst chaos. The mention of the eye of the storm as a calm place where things revolve around hints at finding peace in the midst of turmoil. The comparison of oneself to both a flower and the soil suggests a duality of identity, perhaps feeling both delicate and foundational at the same time.
The singer expresses a desire to be seen more clearly, as if seeking validation or recognition. The mention of entering through glass and floor implies a sense of transparency or being open to scrutiny. The invitation to touch the eye of the storm may symbolize confronting challenges or facing inner turmoil head-on. The idea of watching mirrors to discover more about oneself suggests a journey of self-discovery or introspection. The repetition of "I must be more" reflects a yearning for growth or self-improvement.
The lyrics end with the line "No one came in to see," which could signify a sense of loneliness or feeling unseen by others. The overall theme of the song appears to center around self-reflection, identity, and the search for understanding and connection. The imagery and metaphors used in the lyrics create a layered and introspective atmosphere, inviting listeners to ponder their own reflections and perceptions of themselves and others.
