Rainy days evoke emotions similar to the way that rust eats away at metal objects.

Someone advised that it might be helpful to stop caring so much about things that don't really matter.

Wasn't gettin' much out of life at all
Previously, life was dull and unfulfilling.

Was scared to jump so I was scared to fall
Fear of failure kept me from taking risks.

I used to think the world was pretty small / From the comfort of my room
Before adventuring into the world, it was easy to forget how vast and complex it truly is.

Lately I've been hard to reach / Standin' on this mountain peak
Recently, I have been hard to contact or connect with, as if I am on a high mountaintop.

I learned that fear is just the false belief / That there is nothin' you can do
Fear is misguided because it is based on the false notion that nothing can be done to avoid bad outcomes.

All those years of bad test scores / Still tryna figure out what I was studyin' for
Despite not performing well on tests, it is still unclear what the point of studying was in the first place.

But once you walk out that classroom door / Nobody tells you where you're goin'
Once education is over, there are no clear guidelines for what comes next.

It seems like everyone I know / Is just an actor puttin' on a show
Everyone appears to be pretending or wearing a mask in some way.

I hope one day I'm wise enough to know / There's no way of knowin'
Someday, hopefully, it will be accepted that there are some things that cannot be known for sure.

Expectations are overwhelming and demoralizing.

It is time to take action and prevent expectations from causing further dissatisfaction.
