Don't sit down
There's so many things to do round here
Let me show you around
Bust in late and
Then we're out the door
Keep them waiting
We'll be on to the next thing
Leave them wanting more
Then we're on to the next thing
Leave them wanting more
Then we're on to the next thing
'Til the break of dawn
We'll be on to the next thing
Leave them wanting more
I'll show you how to make a scene
Follow my lead
Give them something to remember us
Before we leave
Don't leave money
'Cause we put on the show
Causing chaos
Everywhere we go
We'll be on to the next thing
Leave them wanting more
Then we're on to the next thing
Leave them wanting more
Then we're on to the next thing
'Til the break of dawn
We'll be on to the next thing
Leave them wanting more
We'll be on to the next thing
Leave them wanting more
Then we're on to the next thing
Leave them wanting more
Then we're on to the next thing
'Til the break of dawn
We'll be on to the next thing
Leave them wanting more
We are the creators and the troublemakers
Coming when we hear the sound
The instigators, love us or you hate us
You'll be seeing us around
We'll be on to the next thing
Leave them wanting more
Then we're on to the next thing
Leave them wanting more
Then we're on to the next thing
Til the break of dawn
We'll be on to the next thing
Leave them wanting more
We'll be on to the next thing
Leave them wanting more
Then we're on to the next thing
Leave them wanting more
Then we're on to the next thing
Til the break of dawn
We'll be on to the next thing
Leave them wanting more
The lyrics of Katy B's song "Next Thing" celebrate the art of hedonism and rebellion. The song begins with Katy telling her friend to keep their jacket on and avoid sitting down as there is so much more to experience. She invites her friend to follow her lead and cause a scene, leave people wanting more, and be onto the next thing. The chorus repeats this message of living in the moment, leaving a lasting impression, and moving on to the next thing before the break of dawn.
Throughout the song, Katy portrays herself and her friend as troublemakers and creators, who appear when they hear the sound and instigate chaos everywhere they go. She suggests that while some may love or hate them, they will continue to leave people wanting more and be seen around living their lives to the fullest.
"Next Thing" appears to be a call for living life on one's own terms, leaving people with unforgettable experiences, and never settling down. The song's lyrics imply a celebration of the power of youth, striving to create one's own destiny, and embracing the vitality of the now.
