Who Am I Living For?
Katy Perry (www.Safalbum.Biz) Lyrics

Yeah, eh yeah yeah

I can feel a phoenix inside of me,
As I march alone to a different beat,
Slowly slowing down my fear,
Yeah, yeah

I am ready for the road less traveled,
Suiting up for my crowning battle,
This test is my own cross to bare,
But I will get there

It's never easy to be chosen,
Never easy to be called,
Standing on the front line when the bombs start to fall,
I can see the Heavens,
But I still hear the flames calling out my name

I can see the writing on the wall,
I can't ignore this war,
At the end of it all,
Who am I living for?

I can feel this light that's inside of me,
Growing fast into a bolt of lightning,
I know one spark will shock the world,
Yeah, yeah

So I pray for favor like Esther,
I need Your strength to handle the pressure,
I know there will be sacrifice,
But that's the price

It's never easy to be chosen,
Never easy to be called,
Standing on the front line when the bombs start to fall,
I can see the Heavens,
But I still hear the flames calling out my name

I can see the writing on the wall,
I can't ignore this war,
At the end of it all,
Who am I living for?

I can see the writing on the wall,
I can't ignore this war,
At the end of it all,
Who am I living for?

At the end, at the end,
Who am I living for?

At the end, at the end,
Who am I living for?

Heavy is the head that wears the crown,
Don't let the greatness get you down
Heavy is the head that wears the crown,
Don't let the greatness get you down

Oh yeah

I can see the writing on the wall,
I can't ignore this war,
At the end of it all,
Who am I living for?

I can see the writing on the wall,
I can't ignore this war,
At the end of it all,
Who am I living for?

At the end, at the end,
Who am I living for?

At the end, at the end,
Who am I living for?

Overall Meaning

"Who Am I Living For" is a song that highlights Katy Perry's struggles with the responsibilities that come with her fame and success. She uses powerful imagery to describe her inner state of mind, depicting herself as a "Phoenix" in the face of life's challenges. She sings about the need to move towards the "road less travelled" as she faces her own "cross to bear." She acknowledges the cost of this journey, highlighted by her reference to "sacrifice," yet Perry remains committed, paying tribute to her faith while seeking the "strength" to bear the pressure of being famous.

In the chorus, Perry reflects on the heightened weight of this responsibility, seeing both the "heavens" and "flames" calling out to her. This represents the push and pull of fame and success, with the pressure to perform, maintain an image, and reach new heights, all while remaining true to oneself. Despite this, Perry expresses a sense of urgency and purpose, acknowledging the reality of war and highlighting the need to focus not simply on survival, but to thrive and find one's place in the world.

Overall, the song highlights the challenges faced by those in the public spotlight, but also underscores the determination and resilience needed to navigate them successfully.

This will always be my favorite on the album. I feel like this song is much deeper than we know. Sounds like she's battling between heaven and hell, light and dark...

Spiritual warfare. She is realising she can only fight for one side. No man can serve two masters: for either he. will hate the one, and love the other; or else. he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Anyway I really love the song :-)

This is one of Katie Perry's best songs.
This song escaped the mainstream
Such an underrated gem.

@kirstyirwin4489

This song is actually about her struggle with her old record company. She was signed with a company that didnt understand her artistic vision. They wouldnt let her write her own music and if they did, they had a great deal of control over it. This song is about breaking free from that company and staying true to who she is and wants to be as an artist.

This is actually her song about her life as a Christian and the struggle to go Astray. She was not successful as a Christian artist to she had to decide whether to leave what she believed in and pursuit her personal happiness.
