Connect
Kays Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Take some advice from your Senior #1
This I assure tried and true
The littlest things can mean everything
When it comes to them and you
Connect with your crew

We're singing again
We're singing again
And it makes me confess things I'd never express

Truth be told
In a parallel world
I can see myself up on the stage
And for 3 hours a night
And to everyone's delight
I'd regale them with all my renditions
Of Gilbert & Sullivan

So what you're saying is
With my new commission to a higher position
I'd do well to profess my truths

Rather than question it
I deem it relevant
No longer will I dispute
That the littlest things can mean everything
In being authentically you
Connect to your truth

You know, when you put it like that, it makes sense!
Rather than question it

Let's deem it relevant

Absent from fear or dispute

These deeply held things
Yes, they mean everything
In becoming authentically you
Connect to your truth

And connect to your crew

Will do.

Overall Meaning

In Kays's song "Connect," the lyrics speak to the importance of genuine connection with both oneself and others. The song suggests that the littlest things can hold great significance when it comes to forming meaningful relationships. It advises the listener to take advice from someone more experienced ("your Senior #1") and emphasizes that connecting with others can bring about positive change and personal growth.

The lyrics also touch on the power of music and self-expression. The act of singing together creates a space where individuals can reveal their deepest thoughts and emotions, even ones they may hesitate to express otherwise. The song expresses a desire to be on stage, performing for others and captivating them with renditions of Gilbert & Sullivan's works. This desire reveals a longing to share one's true self with the world and connect with an audience through music.

I feel like people need to learn how to get rejected or put in the friend zone

Also you right you shouldn’t kiss everybody and you shouldn’t kiss someone because they want you to kiss you

I feel like not talking to friends of someone that used to like you is respectful to him but also if you talk to their friends those things you get labeled as a homie hopper and then if you don’t talk to their friends you may miss a great future

I burp in front of everybody in life and if they can’t handle that which is the fact of me being human then why are you in my life cus that is so extra that I can’t burp in front of you

He had no right to tell you that you have to be a lady at all times especially with him cus one he isn’t your man and two burp is a humanly function so bun all that ladylike thing cus I am burp because I am human

You didn’t have to apologize for your burp cus it is humanly he was just trynna make you feel bad and it didn’t be work

Burp the whole house down😭😭😭

It’s crazy how he said you doing too much yet he the one that brought you on the porch for a burp

I love burp’s female friend her reaction had me rolling 😭😭😭😭I really hope you really became her friend

I will never argue with no man about my humanly body functions cus that is ridiculous 😭😭😭

No Kay you weren't wrong. Unless y'all were committed in a relationship living together, engaged, or married you can decline continuing on dating him. You did not lead him on because he was more interested in you for his personal reasons. You were clear you were honest and you stopped it before it went farther. He just hates rejection hunny. So you actually did yourself a favor. Leave the crazies on the other side of the street hunny.

Lol no you were not wrong for that Kay, I feel like people stay trying to deny women their autonomy, like we don't burp, fart, and shit just as much and AS LOUD as a man does openly. People forget that we are born to live on a floating rock and then we die. All those sounds and bodily functions are just apart of our human experience while we're here and it's never that deep. He was childish lol, it's giving middle school.

For me, I don't care if a woman is lady like or nah, as long as she has a great heart, stable mind, open-mind, weird, educated, healthy and ambitious that's all good for me.

Lain

You were not wrong. This happened when I was a teen, there was this guy who's company I enjoyed but there was something missing, I just couldn't figure out what. One night he kissed me in the car and I was like "NOPE" to myself, I can't understand school chemistry, much less actual chemistry lol, I just knew I didn't feel it. Plus, men aren't entitled to you just because they took you out on dates.

queen lashay

He was definitely wrong for that. Like come on now sir, over a burp. We're really arguing over a freaking burp. I don't blame you at all Kay, because I would've left him too
