Invisible
Ke$ha Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Perhaps you didn't notice me
I'm invisible, I can't be seen
Maybe I'm just not like everyone
I fade a little more each day
Nothing to get but less to say
It's hard to feel when all you feel is numb

I keep looking at you
Keep looking right through
Like I'm invisible
Who do I have to be
For you notice me
I must be invisible
I am invisible

Nothing's real and nothing matters
Fell apart, the pieces scattered
I could disappear without a trace
I'm all around but can't get in
I'm on the outside looking in
Like the wind, I'll blow you all away

I keep looking at you
Keep looking right through
Like I'm invisible
Who do I have to be
For you notice me
I must be invisible
I am invisible

You make me what I am
I can't believe you
Didn't see the sunlight
So if I'm invisible
Who's ever gonna
Pin me with a crime
I am invisible

I am, I am, I am
I am invisible
I am, I am, I am

I keep looking at you
Keep looking right through
Like I'm invisible
Who do I have to be
For you notice me

I must be invisible
I am invisible

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to Ke$ha's song "Invisible" delve into the feeling of being unnoticed and unimportant. The singer feels invisible and unseen by others, as if they don't exist. They express frustration and sadness about not being recognized or acknowledged by the person they are addressing.

The lines "Perhaps you didn't notice me, I'm invisible, I can't be seen" convey the singer's perception of their own invisibility. They believe that they go unnoticed and are easily forgotten, fading into the background. They feel disconnected from others and have less to say, to the point where they start feeling numb.

The chorus emphasizes the singer's desire to be seen and acknowledged. They repeatedly state that they feel like nobody notices them, and they question who they have to be in order for someone to finally notice their presence. The repetition of "I am invisible" further emphasizes their feelings of insignificance and being overlooked.

The second verse continues to explore the theme of invisibility and the singer's sense of detachment. They feel like nothing in their life is real or meaningful, as if everything has fallen apart. They describe themselves as being on the outside looking in, unable to fully connect with others. The metaphor of the wind blowing people away suggests that they feel insignificant and unable to leave a lasting impression.

Overall, "Invisible" highlights the loneliness and frustration that can come from feeling unnoticed and disregarded by others. It captures the longing for recognition and validation, as well as the toll it takes on one's emotions and self-esteem.

Wha... wha? The song from the Barbie Diaries is by Ke$ha... before she was Ke$ha... My mind has just been blown. I freaking love that movie at the age of nine and I have new respect for Ke$ha now.

...if you think about this song another way, it's really depressing. Because this is the kind of music she wanted to do, but when she was doing it she was basically invisible. So she changed her public appearance to be noticed and successful to that of what it is today.
