Following the disbanding of Destiny's Child in 2006, Rowland released her second studio album, Ms. Kelly (2007). In 2009, she hosted the first season of The Fashion Show, and was featured on David Guetta's "When Love Takes Over", which topped the charts in several countries. Its success influenced Rowland to explore electronic dance music on her third studio album, Here I Am (2011). Her fourth album, Talk a Good Game (2013), became her third top-ten album on the US Billboard 200 chart. Rowland was a television judge on the eighth season of The X Factor UK (2011), as well as the third season of The X Factor USA (2013). She has continued her television career by hosting Chasing Destiny (2016) and starred as a coach on The Voice Australia (2017–2020).
Throughout her career, Rowland has sold over 40 million records as a solo artist, and a further 60 million records with Destiny's Child. Her work has earned her several awards and nominations, including five Grammy Awards, one Billboard Music Award, and two Soul Train Music Awards. Rowland has also received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame as part of Destiny's Child, and as a solo artist, she has been honored by the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers and Essence for her contributions to music. In 2014, Fuse ranked Rowland in their "100 Most Award-Winning Artists" list at number 20.
I Remember

I was always sneaking in your mind
Remember when we loved like crazy
Both without anything to hide
I was your lover, I was your friend
And you never had to question it
Don't know who to blame no matter who's fault
And I remember
When you loved me
I remember
When you loved me
They say you know, yeah you know when it's over
It hurts when it's over
Remember when you used to lay your head on my shoulder
It made us feel closer
I remember
When you loved me
I remember
When you loved me
When you loved me
When you loved me
Love (love)
You didn't know (You didn't know)
You didn't know
You messed up my head (my hands up)
Never, never, no no never, no no never
And
I remember
(Whenever I) When you told me you loved me ?
Now you too good for that
I remember
(You you used to) You would always check up on your baby
I remember
When you loved me, I, remember
When you loved me
When you loved me
When you loved me
When you loved me
When you loved, loved, loved
Loved me
The lyrics in Kelly Rowland's song I Remember speak to the feelings of nostalgia and longing for a past relationship that once felt perfect but has ended. The singer recalls a time in the past when their love was strong, when they were inseparable and had no secrets from each other. The lines "I was your lover, I was your friend, and you never had to question it" convey a deep sense of trust and intimacy between the two lovers.
The chorus of the song repeats the phrase "I remember when you loved me" several times, emphasizing the singer's longing for the past and their desire for their former lover's feelings to be reignited. The contrast between the phrases "when you loved me" and "now you're too good for that" suggests a possibly one-sided relationship in which one partner has moved on while the other remains stuck in the past.
