Time
Kelsey Lu Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

You're running out of time running out of things to hide
From the ones that found you out
Everybody knows the feelings that you feel
Aren't real

You stole my heart with your old wise soul
Having you as my love, used to be my goal
These other women, they came and went, love
But I always stuck around waiting for you
Waiting for you, waiting for you
Waiting for you is all I know
But I don't wanna know, no I don't wanna know

You're running out of time running out things to hide
From the ones that found you out
Everybody knows the feelings that you feel
Aren't real

I cried it all off last night in the pillow of your hair
And you said come on and feel me inside your heart

You're running out of time running out things to hide
From the ones that found you out

Everybody knows the feelings that you feel
Aren't real

Overall Meaning

Kelsey Lu's song, "Time," is an introspective and emotional portrayal of a relationship where one person feels that the other is not truly invested. In the first stanza, Lu addresses the partner who is "running out of time" to hide their true feelings from those who "found you out." It seems like the person being addressed may not be fully committed to the relationship, and Lu comments on the fact that "everybody knows the feelings that you feel aren't real."

Lu then proceeds to address her own invested feelings in the second stanza. She describes how the partner "stole my heart with [their] old wise soul," and how she's always "waited for you, waiting for you, waiting for you." However, she expresses ambivalence about waiting for someone who may not truly be invested in the relationship. She ends this stanza by saying "I don't wanna know, no I don't wanna know," suggesting that she may be realizing that waiting for someone who isn't fully present isn't worth her time.

The final stanza is perhaps the most vulnerable, as Lu describes crying "in the pillow of [the partner's] hair" while the partner tells her to "come on and feel me inside [her] heart." This suggests that while Lu may be feeling unsure about the relationship, the partner may be trying to convince her to stay by turning the focus back on their internal connection.

Overall, "Time" is a song about the internal struggle of waiting for someone who may not be fully committed to a relationship. It's a vulnerable exploration of the conflicting emotions that come with investing in someone who may not feel the same way.
