Take Me Home
Ken Ashcorp Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Slick and wet and super soft, all over me
I want it, I want it
Holding me
Down into the asphalt with your rotary
We want it all
Burn my heart away
Take my body and my soul
Oh, take me home
Take me home
Neon lights and lipstick marks upon my neck
Take me home
Take me there
Feel the wind rush just like fingers
Through your hair
I want it, I want it
Au contraire
87 just won't do, I need your premium air
I want it all
Redline 'til the engine's screaming
'Til our hearts both stop
Push past 'til the morning rises
I want it
Burn my heart away
Take the wheel, and take control
Take my body and my soul
Oh, take me home
Take me home
Neon lights and lipstick marks upon my neck
Take me home
Burn, burn
The lyrics of Ken Ashcorp's song "Take Me Home" convey the desire for intense experiences and the relinquishing of control to another person. The song makes use of car-related metaphors and imagery to create a visceral sensation of speed and excitement. The first lines, "Gasoline/Slick and wet and super soft, all over me/I want it, I want it" can be seen as a reference to the sensuality and danger of being drenched in gasoline, but can also be interpreted as a desire for something intense and burning, such as a passionate love or a thrilling adventure. The lines "Holding me/Down into the asphalt with your rotary" similarly convey the sensation of losing control, being pulled into the ground by a powerful force.
The chorus of "Take Me Home" repeats the phrase "Burn my heart away/Take me home" several times, emphasizing the desire for something that will consume and incinerate everything else. The lines "Take the wheel, and take control/Take my body and my soul" suggest a willingness to be dominated and led by someone else. The repeated mention of "neon lights and lipstick marks upon my neck" further underscores the idea of living life to the fullest, embracing excitement and indulgence in the moment.
Overall, the lyrics of "Take Me Home" paint a picture of a life lived on the edge, with a willingness to take risks and let go of control. The car metaphor is used to great effect, creating a sensation of speed and wild abandon.

Happy Birthday, Ken!!
I've been a diehard fan of your music for 10 years now... which is insane. I still love all your classic work like the StarCraft II songs and Wish There Will Still Dinosaurs... AND the super early jokey songs like Cherry Boy Rap Riot and Hanako and Madoka: Ante Up and Long Live the Queen, etc.... But, I genuinely feel like your work has only gotten better with time. On The Rocks, Blue, Wear, Shameless, Hold My Hand, Black Lily... I listen to these constantly in my car via my crusty old gen 1 iPod Touch, and I think your music will always be a major part of my life.
When I was younger and poorer, I'll admit I totally ripped your songs, but now that I have an amount of money, I happily buy every single one of your songs and will continue to do so indefinitely. As a game developer, one of my biggest dreams is being able to hire you to produce a song for a game... haha!
You've come so far, and I can't wait to see what you do next. I hope you're well. Happy birthday, best wishes, and all that shit.
Sincerely,
Gunnar Clovis
@Triple-Q
Both the driver and passenger are not wearing seatbelts. I am extremely disappointed by your flagrant disregard for proper vehicle safety and no amount of "musical hits" can change that
@Bluecho4
They are going altogether too fast to put on seatbelts. TOO FAST, I SAY!
THERE JUST ISN'T TIME!

I'm thankful to everyone who waits so long for each of these releases. The past year has mostly been taken for myself and my well-being so music has been one of the lower priorities in my life. I hit some goals I had always thought were beyond me and I'm confident going forward with both myself and my music.
Thank you to everyone who's been with me, my panda girl, and my journey from whatever point you hopped on. It's been absolutely incredible and I want to keep making music for myself and for everyone that enjoys it. That's always been my goal and I'm happy it's one that has kept me busy for over 10 years now. Big things in the future. Enjoy the now. Much love!
