I really hated that the characters would become so helpless over a step that was just a few inches too tall for them to just jump off.

I’ve always been creeped out by the Earth Temple dungeon, it was the first one where I felt truly terrified playing a Zelda game. I remember vividly screaming in fear when one of the Redeads shrieked at me, something that I’ve experienced multiple times during and even before entering the dungeon. Guess the creepy atmosphere and the Redead shrieks finally broke me.
Strangely enough, the room with the ReDead statue, once lit up, felt like a safe place, away from the darkness and everything that lies within it. That damn statue, though, always served as a grim reminder that even though I felt safe, I was not welcomed in the dungeon. Only the dead belong there…

Some confuse the sound of that with a jaw harp, which I can't fault as some sounds a didgeridoo can make similar twangy/boingy kinds of sounds that a jaw harp also can.

The key difference between the 2 is that the didgeridoo has a constant drone (much like bagpipes too), whereas a jaw harp doesn't.

This is one of my 5 year old sons favourite Zelda themes. We played WW in autumn 2022. We used to make a silly dance to the digeridoo part. A stand out from WW's soundtrack!

Actually a didgeridoo, but I can’t blame ya for thinking that it was a jaw harp! Both of them have a similar kind of sound.

A key difference between a didgeridoo and a jaw harp is though is that a didgeridoo has a constant droning sound (much like bagpipes) whereas a jaw harp doesn't.

@@tootnoot3074 If you wanna go further with it, "Blame it on Me" has the same opening chord progression as "Stickerbush Symphony" from Donkey Kong Country 2. (Different key, but they both open with a vi-I-vi-I progression)

Also the starting with drums/beat and then bringing in an atmospheric minor key which "Blame It On Me" does is a lot like the "Stone Tower Temple" in Majora's Mask.

Something tells me austin played a handful of classic videogames growing up ;)

The Earth Temple...what a perfectly unsettling dungeon.
The architecture depicts The Grim.Reaper, the literal personification of death, Redeads and Stalfos guard the Temple, perhaps not knowing Link is there to do good, maybe serving as hideously warped servants to Hyrule long after it collapsed.
Maybe a subtle bit of foreshadowing that Hyrule as it used to be is not something we want back, with its bloody history of Greed and Hatred unearthed like in Ocarina of Time.
