They released many popular albums that have crossed over to gain mainstream success outside the flamenco area. Their music can best be described as a mix between flamenco and mainstream pop. The band broke up in 2004 with the release of their final album 20 pa' Ketama after a twenty year career.
Their final lineup was Antonio Carmona (Vocals) José Miguel Carmona, Juan Carmona.

The lyrics of Ketama's song "Camino El Monte" describe the beauty and allure of a gypsy woman who is walking through the mountains. The singer describes how she carries all of his innermost desires and secrets with her, wherever the wind may take her. He speaks of how his soul is tattooed by her presence and how he has engraved her name on his heart with a silver needle. He admires how she gathers her hair up as she walks past him and how her style and charisma has stolen his heart.
The chorus repeats the phrase "Pon pon, pon pon" which is onomatopoeic and seems to represent the footsteps of the gypsy woman as she walks away. He sings of how she "rones" and how she knows that he likes her polka-dotted handkerchief. The singer anticipates the next time he sees her, so that he can speak to her and sing to her in the early morning. The song has a romantic and lustful undertone, as the singer is clearly infatuated with this mysterious woman.
