Footloose
Kevin Bacon Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Been workin' so hard
I'm punchin' my card
Eight hours, for what?
Oh, tell me what I've got

I got this feeling
That time's just holding me down
I'll hit the ceiling
Or else I'll tear up this town

Tonight I gotta cut loose
Footloose, kick off your Sunday shoes
Please, Louise, pull me off of my knees
Jack, get back, come on before we crack
Lose your blues, everybody cut footloose

You're playin' so cool
Obeyin' every rule
But dig way down in your heart
You're burnin', yearnin' for some

Somebody to tell you
That life ain't passing you by
I'm trying to tell you
It will if you don't even try

You can fly if you'd only cut loose
Footloose, kick off your Sunday shoes
Ooh-ee, Marie, shake it, shake it for me
Whoa, Milo, come on, come on let's go
Lose your blues, everybody cut footloose

(Yo-o-o-o-o)
Cut footloose-ah
(Yo-o-o-o-o)
Cut footloose-ah
(Yo-o-o-o-o)
Cut footloose-ah

First, we've got to turn you around
Second, and put your feet on the ground
Third, now take a hold of your soul
Ba, ba, ba
Ba!

I'm turnin' it loose!
Footloose, kick off your Sunday shoes
Please, Louise, pull me off of my knees
Jack, get back, come on before we crack
Lose your blues, everybody cut footloose

(Footloose) Footloose (footloose), kick off your Sunday shoes
Please, Louise, pull me off of my knees
Jack, get back, come on before we crack
Lose your blues
Everybody cut, everybody cut
Everybody cut, everybody cut

Everybody cut, everybody cut
Everybody, everybody cut footloose!

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Kevin Bacon's "Footloose" speak of the desire to break free from the monotony and restrictions of life. The singer, who has been working hard for eight hours, questions the meaning of his work and expresses his agitation, feeling that time is holding him down. He wants to break free, to hit the ceiling or to tear up the town. Through the lyrics, he encourages others to loosen up and lose their blues, for everyone to cut footloose.

The second verse speaks of the yearning that lies beneath the cool exterior of following the rules. The singer encourages listeners to take a chance, to fly if they only cut loose. The song has a contagious energy, with its fast-paced beats, and playful melodies. The chorus is a call to let loose, to kick off their shoes, shake it, and dance their blues away.

In summary, "Footloose" is an upbeat song that speaks of the need to break free from the monotony and restrictions of everyday life, to live in the moment and enjoy life to its fullest.

It makes me very happy and proud to see how well he aged and still seems energetic for his age.
It's not often I see a celebrity age very well so when I do,it's pretty special.
Kevin Bacon has always been a favorite of mine.I hope he lives to be over 100 because I don't want to live in a world without Kevin Bacon.

Many of them have aged well-Iam super surprised at how well many of the women look in their 60’s.
