You can't accuse me of all the things
You know that you are guilty of
And I see that it is easy for you to blame
Everything on me
If that's the case I should go have my fun
And do all the things you say I do
Boy I can't continue to take this from you
I might as well have cheated on you (you)
As much as you accused me of cheating
I might as well have lied to you
As much as you accused me of lying
I might as well have gone to the club (I might as well, might as well)
As much as you accused me of clubbin' (I might as well, might as well)
I might as well have given away my love
As much as you accused me
I should have cheated
Let me say I was out with somebody else
When my girl told me she saw you with some girl
(Some girl)
But I didn't accuse you of something that I didn't see myself (see myself)
Realize that I would never do anything to disrespect you
Trust me, you gotta stop accusing me
I might as well have cheated on you (might as well, oh)
As much as you accused me of cheating
I might as well have lied to you (I might as well, oh)
As much as you accused me of lying
I might as well have gone to the club (oh)
As much as you accused me of clubbin'
I might as well have given away my love (as much as you)
As much as you accused me
Don't you know I wish I knew
That you would treat me this way
If you don't promise me
That you've changed your ways I'm leaving today
And I ain't coming back
And you made it like that
Was unfair to me
All this jealousy
I'm your everything
What will you do without me
Why you tripping?
I might as well have cheated on you (oh, baby)
As much as you accused me of cheating
I might as well have lied to you ('cause I might as well, oh)
As much as you accused me of lying
I might as well have gone to the club (baby, baby)
As much as you accused me of clubbin' (as much as you accused me)
I might as well have given away my love (I should've gave it all away)
As much as you accused me
I should have cheated
I should have lied
I should have cheated
Maybe I should have went out to the club
Or maybe I, should have done it
Should have given away all my love
Or maybe I, I should have played you
'Cause you don't appreciate me, no
And I tried to stay down with you
But you're making it hard for me (can't you see it baby that)
I might as well have cheated on you
As much as you accused me of cheating
I might as well have lied to you (that I might, might as well)
As much as you accused me of lying (but I didn't)
I might as well have gone to the club ('cause I love you)
As much as you accused me of clubbin'
I might as well have given away my love (baby)
As much as you accused me
I should have cheated
As much as you accused me of cheating
I should have cheated
As much as you accused me of lying (lying)
As much as you accused me of clubbin' (clubbin')
(I love you)
As much as you accused me of cheating
I should have cheated
I should have cheated
I should have cheated
I should have cheated
I should have cheated
I should have cheated
The song "I Should've Cheated" by Keyshia Cole is a song that expresses a woman's frustration towards her partner's constant accusations of cheating. The first verse of the song begins with Keyshia defending herself against her partner's accusations of cheating. She asserts that he cannot accuse her of things that he himself is guilty of, and that he is quick to blame her for everything that goes wrong in their relationship. Keyshia also contemplates the idea of actually cheating on him, stating that she might as well have done it given how often he accuses her of it.
In the chorus, Keyshia further explains that she might as well have cheated, lied, gone out to the club, or given away her love, since he constantly accuses her of doing these things anyway. She claims that his constant paranoia and jealousy is unfair to her, and that if he doesn't change, she will leave him. She concludes by once again stating that she should have cheated on him, as he has pushed her to a breaking point.
The second verse features Keyshia confronting her partner about seeing him with another girl. She acknowledges that she didn't accuse him of anything, but instead hoped that he would trust her as she trusted him. She asks him to stop accusing her of things she hasn't done, and to realize that his behavior is pushing her away from him.
Overall, "I Should've Cheated" is a song about the frustration and hurt caused by constant accusations of infidelity. Keyshia Cole expresses the emotional toll this takes on a person and the desire to act out because of it.
