Hey
Every girl's gotta go through it
And every man's gotta go through it
It's this thing called love
Mm listen to me now listen to me
That you said you was a bad boy
Man I should of listened
When you said you was a bad boy (bad boy)
You took control of me
I thought you would change for me
Everything's different now
Reminiscing ain't the same boy
How I let you come and hurt me like this (this boy)
I'm open now
I wanna get away but your forcing me to stay
Love
I thought you had my back this time (this time)
But man I'm wrong this time (this time)
It's this thing called (thought you had my back)
Love
I thought you had my back this time (this time)
But man I'm wrong this time
It's this thing called love
I loved you for your ways
But your ways hurt me bad boy
Hurt me so bad
Why you wanna see me sad boy
I'm tired of crying over you
But I miss you so much I don't know what to do
Seems that I gotta move on
Live life without ya but
Everytime someone comes around to talk about you
I get feelings inside again
I wanna be right back by your side again
Love
I thought you had my back this time (this time)
But man I'm wrong this time (this time)
It's this thing called (thought you had my back)
Love
I thought you had my back this time (this time)
But man I'm wrong this time
It's this thing called love
You got me yeah
Oh oh oh
You got me
Oh oh oh
You got me
Oh oh (and I don't know what to do) oh
Yeah yeah oh oh yeah (oh love)
I thought you had my back
I'm so wrong I'm so wrong
Love (love love) oh love
I opened up my heart
Even though it's so long
I love you so much I
Thought you had my back
Love
Yeah
It's all good though
Sometimes in life you know
Situations come your way
You just gotta make good decisions man
You know
You gotta know your focus in life
And if love is your focus
Then man pay attention
Oh oh oh
You got me yeah
I'm so stuck
Right here
In Keyshia Cole's song Love I Thought You Had My Back, she sings about the painful downfall of a relationship, reflecting on her mistakes and the false promises made by her partner. She begins the song by acknowledging that love is a common experience for all people, but it seems that she has been misled by her partner. She recalls that her partner revealed himself to be a "bad boy," and in retrospect, she regrets not taking his warning seriously. She was too optimistic, thinking that he would change for her, but she was wrong, and he has hurt her. She realizes that they have reached a point of no return, but he is holding her back, and she does not know how to escape.
