Saw me standin' there, would you give me a wave?
And if I part this ocean in between us
Would you even care of would you walk away?
Fightin' for affection from you never been easy
Givin' me impressions that I gotta work hard
If I could pick you up, we'd be in Malibu speedin'
Ooh, yeah
Give me the chance
To prove that I can
Give you the world
If I was your man, yeah
Give you the world on a silver platter
Wouldn't even matter
Give you the world on a silver platter
Wouldn't even matter
It'd matter to you
Don't ever seem to mention all the things that I'd do
And can we talk about
Promises and love that we make?
And can we talk now
I really wanna put a smile on your face
Ooh, ooh
Give me a chance
To prove that I can
Give you the world
If I was your man
Give me the chance (babe)
To prove that I can (to prove that I can be)
Give you the world
If I was your man, yeah
Give you the world on a silver platter
Wouldn't even matter, ah, ah
Give you the world on a silver platter
Wouldn't even matter
Give me the chance
To prove that I can
Give you the world
If I was your man, yeah
If I was your man
The lyrics to Khalid's song "Silver Platter" convey feelings of longing, desire, and the yearning to be seen and loved by someone special. The singer asks the listener to imagine a scenario where they are standing behind them, wondering if they would even acknowledge their presence with a simple wave. They question whether the listener would care or simply walk away if they were to bridge the gap between them.
The lyrics further delve into the struggles of fighting for affection and constantly feeling the need to prove oneself in order to receive love. The singer feels as if they are constantly given the impression that they have to work hard to earn the listener's affection. However, they express their willingness to go to great lengths, even metaphorically picking the listener up and speeding to Malibu, just to show their dedication. Yet, despite their efforts, they admit to feeling lost and unsure of where the listener's heart truly lies.
The chorus of the song pleads for a chance to prove their love and devotion, emphasizing that they would give the world to the listener if they were given the opportunity. The repeated line "Give you the world on a silver platter, wouldn't even matter" conveys a sense of frustration, as the singer believes that their efforts and sacrifices may go unnoticed or unappreciated. They express a desire for open communication, mentioning promises made and the desire to bring happiness to the listener's face.
Overall, "Silver Platter" captures the feelings of insecurity, longing, and the desperate need to be seen and loved in a relationship. It depicts the complexities of navigating emotions and the challenges of trying to prove one's worthiness of love.

LYRICS (literraly no one will get it):
Standing on the edge of the crater
Like the prophets once said
And the ashes are all cold now
No more bullets and the embers are dead
Whispers in the air tell the tales of the brothers gone
Desolation, devastation
What a mess we made, when it all went wrong
Watching from the edge of the circus
For the games to begin
Gladiators draw their swords
Form their ranks for armageddon
I'm nuclear, I'm wild
I'm breaking up inside
A heart of broken glass
Defiled
Deep inside
The abandoned child
Standing on the edge of the underworld
Looking at the abyss
And I'm hoping for some miracle
To breakout to escape from all this
Whispers in the air tell the tale
Of a life that's gone
Desolation, devastation
What a mess we made, when it all went wrong
I'm nuclear, I'm wild
I'm breaking up inside
A heart of broken glass
Defiled
Deep inside
The abandoned child
I'm nuclear, I'm wild
I'm breaking up inside
A heart of broken glass
Defiled
Deep inside
The abandoned child
Deep inside
The abandoned child
