Kid Rock released several studio albums from 1988 that mostly went unnoticed before his 1998 record 'Devil Without a Cause', released with Atlantic Records, sold 11 million albums behind the hits, "Bawitdaba","Cowboy," and "Only God Knows Why". In 2000, he released The History of Rock which was a compilation of remixed and remastered versions of songs from his previous albums as well as the hit single, "American Bad Ass". In 2001, he released the follow up, Cocky. After a slow start, his country-flavored hit "Picture" with Sheryl Crow resurrected the album and it went gold as a single and pushed the album's sales to more than 5 million. It was followed by 2003's self-titled release, which failed to chart a major hit. In 2006 he released Live Trucker , a live album. In 2007 Kid Rock released Rock N Roll Jesus, which produced a hit in "All Summer Long." It was his first worldwide smash hit, charting #1 in eight countries across Europe and Australia. Rock N Roll Jesus would go on to sell 5 million albums worldwide including being certified triple platinum in the US.
He has sold 22 million albums to date in the United States, which currently ranks him as the 99th best selling music artist of all time in the U.S.

Put some weight in the tank now and fire up my favorite song
I'm gonna ride to nowhere or anywhere I can be free, yeah
'Cause I know somewhere there's a good time lookin' for me
I'm gonna find the crossroads and wash Mississippi clean
And deal that devil his due me and old Jimmy Beam
I'm gonna find some white lines and follow them wherever they lead
A juke joint jumpin' with whiskey flowing like a river, yeah
A cowboy band with a banjo picker and a fiddler, yeah
I'm gonna look under every stone and shake every tree
'Cause I know somewhere there's a good time lookin' for me
I'm gonna keep on moving even if I have to thumb my way
I'm so tired of feuding and watching my life slip away
Now I don't really care if it's New York or Tennessee
'Cause I know somewhere there's a good time lookin' for me
A juke joint jumpin' with whiskey flowing like a river, yeah
A cowboy band with a banjo picker and a fiddler, yeah
I'm gonna look under every stone and shake every tree
'Cause I know somewhere there's a good time lookin' for me
I said baby, baby, baby don't you wanna go?
I said baby, baby, baby don't you wanna go, yeah
I got my hand on the throttle, I'm telling you I'm on my way
I can't wait for tomorrow or sit around for Judgment Day
And I could care less about anywhere that I gotta be
'Cause I know somewhere there's a good time lookin' for me
'Cause I know somewhere there's a good time lookin' for me
'Cause I know somewhere there's a good time lookin' for me
Good time lookin' for me
Good time lookin' for me
Good time lookin' for me
The lyrics of Kid Rock's song "Good Time Lookin'" express a desire for finding a place where one can let go of their troubles and just have fun. The opening lines suggest a sense of restlessness and the need to escape from the mundane, everyday routine. The singer is looking for some adventure, even if it means hitting the road without a plan.
This sense of seeking is expressed even further in the second verse. The reference to finding the crossroads and washing Mississippi clean alludes to the legend of blues musician Robert Johnson, who was said to have sold his soul to the devil at a crossroads in exchange for musical talent. This reference suggests that the singer is willing to take risks and tempt fate in his quest for a good time. He's also not opposed to getting a little tipsy with his old buddy Jimmy Beam.
Throughout the song, we see a series of images that evoke the idea of fun and letting loose. There's the juke joint with whiskey flowing like a river, a cowboy band with a banjo picker and fiddler, and looking under every stone and shaking every tree. The song's message is clear: you never know where the next good time might be hiding, so keep searching and having fun.
