Eleven Kidz Bop albums have been released to date. Each album features different pop music songs, played with music similar to the original, and with the "Kidz Bop Kids" singing instead of the original artist. Albums are typically released within a few months of each other and thus the songs included tend to be the hit songs of the current time, including such songs such as "Float On" (Modest Mouse), "This Love" (Maroon 5), and "Boulevard of Broken Dreams" (Green Day).
Although the albums are marketed as being "sanitized" versions of popular songs for children, many of the songs featured on the Kidz Bop albums still contain explicit sexual material, such as Rob Thomas's "Lonely No More," which some people consider inappropriate for younger audiences. Other featured songs, such as "Boulevard of Broken Dreams", contain profanity. Although the albums censor the actual word from the song, the context of the profanity remains. They also covered Green Day's hit "Wake Me Up When September Ends", which is about death.
The Kidz Bop video for their cover of Avril Lavigne's "Sk8r Boi", for instance, features the song being sung by a pre-teen girl in heavy make-up, fishnet stockings, and a Sex Pistols t-shirt.

But you don't, you don't have to go
You're feeling sad, you're feeling lonely
And no one seems to care
You're mother's gone and your father hits you
This pain you cannot bear
But we all bleed the same way as you do
Hold on, if you feel like letting go
Hold on, it gets better than you know
Days, you say they're way too long
And your nights, you can't sleep at all
Hold on
And you're not sure what you're waiting for
But you don't want to know more
And you're not sure what you're looking for
But you don't want to know more
But we all bleed the same way as you do
And we all have the same things to go through
Hold on, if you feel like letting go
Hold on, it gets better than you know
Don't stop looking, you're one step closer
Don't stop searching, it's not over
Hold on
What are you looking for?
What are you waiting for?
Do you know, what you're doing to me?
Go ahead, what are you waiting for?
Hold on, if you feel like letting go
Hold on, it gets better than you know
Don't stop looking, you're one step closer
Don't stop searching, it's not over
Hold on, if you feel like letting go
Hold on, it gets better than you know
Hold on
The main message of Kidz Bop's song "Hold On" is that life can be tough, but it's important to keep going and hold on to hope because things will eventually get better. The opening lines of the song paint a bleak picture of the world as "cold" and uncaring, but the singer reassures the listener that they don't have to face the difficulties of life alone. The following lyrics describe a person who is struggling with feelings of sadness and loneliness, perhaps due to the absence of supportive parents or other challenging life circumstances.
Despite the pain that the listener may be feeling, the singer emphasizes that everyone experiences hardship and suffering. In a way, this recognition of shared struggle is meant to bring comfort and a sense of community. The chorus encourages the listener to hold on, even when things seem unbearable. The second verse addresses feelings of restlessness and uncertainty about life, but reiterates the importance of persevering and continuing to search for purpose and meaning.
The final lines of the song echo the chorus in urging the listener to keep going and not give up. By emphasizing that they are "one step closer" and that the search is "not over," the song suggests that life is a journey and that there is always hope for a better future.
