Eleven Kidz Bop albums have been released to date. Each album features different pop music songs, played with music similar to the original, and with the "Kidz Bop Kids" singing instead of the original artist. Albums are typically released within a few months of each other and thus the songs included tend to be the hit songs of the current time, including such songs such as "Float On" (Modest Mouse), "This Love" (Maroon 5), and "Boulevard of Broken Dreams" (Green Day).
Although the albums are marketed as being "sanitized" versions of popular songs for children, many of the songs featured on the Kidz Bop albums still contain explicit sexual material, such as Rob Thomas's "Lonely No More," which some people consider inappropriate for younger audiences. Other featured songs, such as "Boulevard of Broken Dreams", contain profanity. Although the albums censor the actual word from the song, the context of the profanity remains. They also covered Green Day's hit "Wake Me Up When September Ends", which is about death.
The Kidz Bop video for their cover of Avril Lavigne's "Sk8r Boi", for instance, features the song being sung by a pre-teen girl in heavy make-up, fishnet stockings, and a Sex Pistols t-shirt.
When I'm Gone
Kidz Bop Lyrics

There's secrets in this life that I can't hide.
Somewhere in this darkness there's a light that I can't find.
Maybe it's too far away
Or maybe I'm just blind
Maybe I'm just blind
So hold me when I'm here, right me when I'm wrong,
Everything I am, and everything in me I'll also be the one you wanted me to be.
I'll never let you down, even if I could I'd give up everything if only for your good.
So hold me when I'm here, right me when I'm wrong.
You can hold me when I'm scared, you won't always be there, so love me when I'm gone.
Love me when I'm gone.
When your education x-ray cannot see under my skin.
I won't tell you a damn thing that I could not tell my friends.
Roaming through this darkness, I'm alive, but I'm alone.
Part of me is fighting this, but part of me is gone.
So hold me when I'm here, right me when I'm wrong,
Hold me when I'm scared, and love me when I'm gone.
Maybe I'm just blind.
So hold me when I'm here, right me when I'm wrong,
Hold me when I'm scared, and love me when I'm gone.
The song "When I'm Gone" by Kidz Bop talks about the inner world and emotional turmoil that the singer is going through. The lyrics suggest that there is another world inside the singer that others may not see, hinting at their innermost thoughts and emotions that are hidden from others. There are secrets in their life that they cannot hide and a darkness that they are trying to navigate through to find light, but they feel lost and uncertain.
The singer pleads to their loved ones to hold them when they are here, right them when they are wrong, hold them when they are scared, and love them when they are gone. Everything they are, they will also be what their loved ones wanted them to be. The singer is willing to give up everything if it's for the good of their loved ones, and they assure them that they will never let them down, even if they could.
The lyrics in the second verse suggest that the singer is going through something that even an x-ray cannot see and they won't reveal their innermost thoughts and feelings to others, not even to their loved ones. They are trying to fight against the darkness that they are going through but a part of them is already lost.
Overall, the song speaks about the internal struggle that people go through and the need for love, support, and understanding from their loved ones when they are going through a difficult time.
