He spent eight years in Nashville before signing a record deal with MCA Nashville. His debut single, "Mary Was the Marrying Kind", peaked at #45 on the country singles charts published by Billboard.
On September 27, 2011, he released his second single, "Somethin' 'Bout a Truck". The song was followed by the release of his debut album Up All Night in April 2012. Moore co-wrote every song on the album, and Brett James produced it. A month later, "Somethin' 'Bout a Truck" hit #1 on the Billboard country charts. "Beer Money" was the album's second single, followed by "Hey Pretty Girl". These songs also reached the country Top 5. Up All Night was the most commercially successful album for a debut country male artist in both 2012 and 2013.
Moore co-wrote two tracks on Thompson Square's self-titled debut album which was released in February 2011: "All the Way" and "Let's Fight", the latter of which was their debut single. He also co-wrote James Wesley's 2012 single "Walking Contradiction". He also co-wrote Frankie Ballard's 2016 single "Cigarette".
In October 2013, Moore announced his fifth single, "Young Love". It charted at #22 on the Country Airplay in March 2014. After it underperformed, it was followed by "Dirt Road", which failed to make Top 40. Moore then decided to "scrap" his second album and compose new material. Moore then released "I'm to Blame", the lead single to his 2015 album, Wild Ones.
On February 10, 2017, Moore released "More Girls Like You" as the lead single from a then-unannounced forthcoming album.
On June 21, 2017, Moore announced the album's title, Slowheart, and its release date of September 8, 2017.
On November 16, 2018, Moore released his second EP titled Room to Spare: The Acoustic Sessions. Three singles were released in preparation for the EP: "Tennessee Boy," an acoustic version of "Plead the Fifth," and "It Ain't California." The EP consists of seven acoustic tracks.
In May 2019, Moore announced on social media "That's a wrap, record #4 is done". No release date had been officially announced, but on June 15 Moore announced he was checking mixes for his upcoming record, indicating the record may be released sometime in 2019.
On August 9, 2019, Moore released a much-anticipated lead single to his yet to be named upcoming album. "She's Mine" is a song Moore wrote over a decade ago, and finally released it in 2019.
On March 27, 2020, Moore released the title track for his fourth studio album titled Wild World. Later that same day, Moore did an interview with Billboard about his new album. The album, which consists of 13 tracks (twelve of which are co-written by Moore), was released on May 29, 2020. Another preview song, "Southpaw", followed on April 17, 2020.
Somethin' 'Bout a Truck

A no trespass sign, and time to kill
Nobody's gonna get hurt, so what's the big deal
Somethin' 'bout a truck in a farmer's field
Somethin' 'bout beer, sitting on ice
After a long hard day, makes it taste just right
On that dropped tailgate, on a summer night
And there's somethin' 'bout a girl, in a red sun dress
With an ice cold beer pressed against her lips
In that farmer's field, will make a boy a mess
There's somethin' 'bout a girl in a red sundress
And there's somethin' 'bout a kiss, that's gonna lead to more
On that dropped tailgate, back behind the corn
The most natural thing you ever felt before
There's somethin' 'bout a kiss that's gonna lead to more
And there's somethin' 'bout a truck in a field
And a girl in a red sundress with an ice cold beer to her lips
Begging for another kiss
And there's somethin' 'bout you and me and the birds and the bees
And Lord have mercy it's a beautiful thing
Ain't nothin' 'bout it luck, there's somethin' 'bout a truck
There's somethin' 'bout a creek, around 2 a.m.
After a few of those beers, you wanna dive on in
You don't need no clothes, so just hang 'em on a limb
There's somethin' 'bout a creek around 2 a.m.
And there's somethin' 'bout a truck in a field
And a girl in a red sundress with an ice cold beer to her lips
Begging for another kiss
And there's somethin' 'bout you and me and the birds and the bees
And Lord have mercy, it's a beautiful thing
Ain't nothin' 'bout it luck, there's somethin' 'bout a truck
Ain't nothin' 'bout it luck, there's somethin' 'bout a truck, huh
Kip Moore's song "Somethin' 'Bout a Truck" is a country song that perfectly captures the essence of summer nights in rural America. The song's lyrics describe the simple pleasures that come with hanging out with friends, drinking beer, and getting lost in the moment. The lyrics suggest that there's something irresistible about what might seem like mundane activities, such as hanging out around a truck in a farmer's field, drinking beer, or jumping in a creek at 2 a.m. These activities represent freedom, friendship, and a connection to nature that many people find deeply satisfying.
The central theme of the song is that good things happen when you're surrounded by your friends and loved ones. Kip Moore's lyrics are filled with vivid, sensory details that evoke the feeling of a hot summer night. The no trespass sign in the farmer's field, the ice-cold beer, the red sundress, and the kiss that leads to more all create an impression of the magic and excitement that can happen when you're with the right person at the right time.
The song also speaks to the importance of youth and living in the moment. The lyrics suggest that when it comes to living your life to the fullest, there's no time like the present. Whether it's sitting on a tailgate, jumping in a creek, or stealing kisses on a summer's night, the memories created in these moments stay with you forever.
