Girl Money
Kix Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Yeah yeah yeah
Girl money
Girl money
Girl money
I was sittin' alone
But not very long
She had a weakness for comin' on strong
She was licking my fingers
And drinking my booze
She whispered sweet nothings
I said 'Babe, is it true?'
What'd you say? - Show me yours & I'll show you mine
What'd you do? - Ordered a bottle of the finest French wine
Where'd you go? - I was heading for heaven when she took the wheel
She took me to the cleaners, she knows how it feels
Out all night
Time to get started
Saving all week for her bedroom party
Dollar for her drink
Dollar for the honey
Burnin' a hole
Gonna spend my girl money
Girl money
Long legged Rosie from Baltimore
Took me farther than I've been before
Oh she loved me for those diamonds & pearls
Took me for a ride
Took me around the world
What'd you day?
What'd you do?
Where'd you go?
Come on baby
Come on baby keep drivin' me crazy
You know the story I'm speaking of
Champagne, red roses & limos
Head first to the tunnel of love
Sometimes you're out
Sometimes you're in
Sometimes you lose
But sometimes you win
Playing the game
Paying the price
We're throwing a party
And you're coming tonight Yeah yeah
Out all night
Time to get started
Saving all week for her bedroom party
Dollar for her drink
Dollar for the honey
Burnin' a hole
Gonna spend my girl money
Out all night
Time to get started
Saving all week for her bedroom party
Dollar for her drink
Dollar for the honey
Burnin' a hole
Gonna spend my girl money

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Kix's song "Girl Money" depict a man caught up in a whirlwind of lust and desire, spending all his hard-earned money on a woman who has an insatiable appetite. The opening lines, "Girl money, girl money, girl money," set the tone for the rest of the song, as the singer finds himself spending all his cash on women. The first few verses describe a woman who seduces him with her charm, luring him into her web of desire. The singer can't resist her and is willing to spend whatever it takes to keep her attention.

The lyrics mention two specific women, "Long legged Rosie from Baltimore" and another who takes him around the world, both of whom are after his money. The phrase "burnin' a hole, gonna spend my girl money" repeats throughout the song, emphasizing the singer's fixation on spending his money on these women. The song ends with the singer realizing that sometimes he wins and sometimes he loses in the game of love, but the party must go on, and he's willing to spend his money on it.

Overall, "Girl Money" is a cautionary tale about the danger of falling for someone who is after your money. The singer is blinded by his desires and spends without thinking, leading him down a path of regret.

These guys should have been about 50 times bigger than they got.

@kangnamsuperman

I agree!

@scottg6897

Absolutely true, though in a way I'm glad they didn't. I love groups like Kix that still play the smaller clubs where the setting is intimate and the fans are all real. Just thank God they came out when they did. Since they actually play instruments and don't use autotune, they wouldn't have sniffed a record deal or radio airplay today.

@GR-bn3xj

Totally agree and I'm really not sure what the reason was besides maybe they got big at the end of the Glam Rock age rather than in the middle of it. Firehouse was another group that I thought would have been bigger but they came around too late

@kangnamsuperman

@@GR-bn3xj I saw Firehouse when they opened for Tesla. They were awesome!

@@kangnamsuperman holy crap! Me too! Tesla Firehouse and Warrant. That was a concert in Memphis

This blows the doors off of any Metallica song.

I just saw Kix this past weekend, and they are still a PHENOMENAL live band. I got to meet the band after the show, and they were all extremely friendly guys. They really appreciate all the fans. They should have been way bigger than they were/ are. I love their whole catalog, but Blow My Fuse and especially Midnite Dynamite are MASTERPIECES.

@route42studios

Couldn’t agree more. I’ve never met the band but know some people who have, including the brother in law of the lead singer. Apparently he’s a very cool, down to earth guy.

@edc4644

Great guitar tone!! Their albums were so consistent No album fillers every song was a straight up party Best band of the 80s bar none
