Twilight
Kjwan Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
I saw you lying there
Legs spread
Slicing through the air
Now I see you
No more masks
Different faces
The virtuous
SO COLD
The virtuous are falling down (on) me
This night
I see you standing there
Pretending
Like I'm not there
Never meant to be this way
Never want to be ashamed
The virtuous are crashing down on me
The song Twilight by Kjwan delves into the idea of losing one's morality and virtue while giving in to the irresistible temptation of lust. The opening lines of the song are graphic in their description of the singer's sexual encounter - "Last night, I saw you lying there, legs spread, slicing through the air." The lyrics then move towards the idea of shedding off masks and revealing one's true self, which is a common theme in Kjwan's music.
The chorus of Twilight comprises the line, "The virtuous are falling down (on) me," which suggests that the singer feels weighed down by the guilt and the shame of his actions. The second verse describes the aftermath of the encounter, with the singer being ignored by his partner, accentuating the sense of triviality in casual sexual encounters in modern society.
The song closes with the line, "The virtuous are crashing down on me," suggesting the singer's inner battle between his desires and his sense of morality. Overall, Kjwan's Twilight is a poignant reflection on the complexities of human desire and the resulting repercussion of giving in to it.
