Muscoviet Mosquito
Klan Of Xymox Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
I must make myself clear
It's spot on time, right on cue
I am a clam, somebody said to me
It's obscene, there must be a motive behind
It's obscure there must be someone behind
A Muscovite Mosquito
A Muscovite Mosquito
A Muscovite Mosquito
A vivid image anyway
Someone said
You're a clam, consider this
Listen, oh, listen to me, you're far
A thousand miles away from here
I am here, I am here
In this ooze through country
Trampled down by mega people
A dispute will never end
A retrospection, it sounds obscene
A disconnection
A final balance sheet
For Muscovite Mosquito
For Muscovite Mosquito
It sounds obscene
It sounds so obscure
For Muscovite Mosquito
My final, my final balance sheet is gone for
For Muscovite Mosquito
I'm Muscovite Mosquito
I'm Muscovite Mosquito
It's spot on time, right on cue
You missed the chance
Somebody vexedly said
It's obscene, there must be motives behind
It's obscure, there must be someone behind
The lyrics of Klan of Xymox's Muscoviet Mosquito are open to interpretation, but the general theme seems to be one of isolation, obscurity, and the sense of being misunderstood. The song begins with a sense of urgency, with the singer feeling the need to write a letter to someone to make themselves clear. They feel like a clam, closed off and unable to express themselves. However, they are keenly aware that there must be a motive behind the obscurity and mystery that surrounds them.
The image of the Muscoviet Mosquito seems to represent the feeling of being an outsider in a foreign environment. The singer is far away from the people they want to reach, and they feel isolated in an inhospitable place that has been trampled down by the masses. They are caught up in a dispute that will never end, and are left to reflect on their life in a final balance sheet. The song ends with a sense of frustration, with the singer missing their chance to be understood and feeling like they are beyond comprehension.
One possible interpretation of the song is that it is about being an artist or musician who is misunderstood by the masses. The Muscoviet Mosquito represents the artist, who is small and insignificant in the grand scheme of things, but who has a unique perspective that is often overlooked or ignored. The obscurity and mystery in the lyrics could represent the artist's desire to be seen and heard, but also their fear of being rejected or misunderstood.

Everyone has a favorite Clan of Xymox song --- Muscoviet Musquito is mine. After "Lonely is an Eyesore" was distributed by 4AD, I had to add this to my collection. This was when Goth's had serious hair, shameless attitudes, and "real" music collections sitting at home.

That CD is a keeper

Those were THE DAYS!!
@MIMNED
One of the most greatest COX's songs. I loved this track and the video since the first listening. The youngest Ronny was a dark star and this 4AD's movie style is taken from the compilation cd+video "Lonely is an Eyesore". A must!
@PositiveLastAction
The original line up COX is one of my all time favorite bands...This song is ingenious.
