He grew up listening to Eminem and Dr. Dre and has been a fan of hip hop for as long as he can remember. He used to write remixes to his favorite Em and Dre hits as a young boy and then record them onto blank cassette tapes using a Little Tykes Sing-Along Karaoke. However, music was put on pause for this artist when he developed an intense passion for the game of basketball as a teenager. After playing competitively for years in pursuit of a college basketball scholarship, a torn meniscus and two broken ribs sidelined him for his entire senior season in high school. Looking for a way out, he turned to music for inspiration to get through this tough time. Watching his teammates from the bench, Josh would scribble rhymes in his notebook until he had compiled enough songs to come out with a mixtape. After recording some tracks off of his built in microphone on his laptop, he decided to hand CD's out at school. Surprisingly, he received great feedback. Something about his style and flow was unlike anything that any of the kids had ever heard. Not to mention, his lyrics contained clever rhymes and meaningful lines. The young aspiring artist set off to get even better and establish himself as a true musician. As far as his moniker goes, early listeners recognized his original style and the timeless quality of his lyrics and flow, and were constantly saying, "This kid is classic!" So, the name stuck. Add in some clever word-play and there you have it, Klassick.
