The original lead vocalists were Lorena Porter Shelby and Joyce "Fenderella" Irby, who later left for a solo career. In 1990, the group became a trio, with Shelby, guitarist Cheryl Cooley, and keyboardist Robbin Grider. "I Miss You" was a major hit for the band in 1985.

I just saw Unsung my damn self. This song is crazy. I always kind of hated Klymaxx as a kid; I thought "Meeting in the Ladies Room" was pretty corny. I also can't believe this song never became a hit; it's by far the best song I've heard from them.

Girls will be Girls is still the best album Klymaxx made. Meeting in the Ladies Room had bigger hit, but wasn't as good as this one was. IMO the ballads Convince Me and Make Me a Offer I can't Refuse go as hard as I miss you did.

MusicLover P The description was right. Although "High Hopes" was penned by Jam & Lewis, they did not produce it. "High Hopes" was produced by Gene Dozier and Ricky Sylvers of The Sylvers. Even Jam & Lewis said themselves that their first production credit was on a Klymaxx album.

Klymaxx and everybody involved here was still new at this point. In fact, we were just starting to get acquainted with The Time, the group to which Jam and Lewis (yet to become known) belonged. A lot of great songs by new artists never became big hits or hits at all.

This is the song that set Prince off blaming Jam & Lewis for giving away The Time sound. The Oberheim is there and it sounds similar but the chorus sounds like Party Lights by Slave

The chorus part... "I'm so...." sound is probably what birthed that section before the chorus of Janet Jackson's "If" .... come to think of it, musically this song could very well be its blueprint

I actually used to get their work confused. I used to assume everything they wrote they also produced.
Material they produced did have their "sound". Some of the material they wrote did not necessarily have their signature "sound" (at least not in my opinion).
I did not think "Bad Times" Captain Rapp was them for some time until I found out differently.
I remember they were calling themselves "The Secret" at one point and I believe Monte Moir was working with them under this name too. Seems like I remember seeing that name on one of the Cherrelle albums...but again, I can't be sure.
