Return
Knight & Wolf Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

And it was so beautiful because
Normalcy
I returned to a normal situation
And it was wonderful
And I walked down the street
And I went grocery shopping
And I loved it
Every minute of it I loved
The whole concept of success to me is a little bit warped
Cause what are you being successful at
You know, it has very little to do
With what people think success is
I actually feel successful right now
Even though I don't have an album out or a video or a song on the radio

There's certain gifts that each of us have
You know the gifts we don't have to worry about so much
Because God gave them to us
Its the living, its the life, its the now
I think we all have a certain corner to hold
There's a season and its not really about the messenger per say
Its more about the message
It just dawned on me that our generation is so different
You know someone has to hold it
You know everyone else is being indulgent
Doing whatever they want to do
You know someone has to be responsible
So that that music reaches and touches you know
A specific chord
And that might not be me
I might lose my mind tomorrow
But its gotta be somebody, you know
We should always be aspiring to know more
And to better ourselves and to improve ourselves, you know
To improve ourselves, because that's how we improve the world around us
By working within us, you improve youself
Light up the corner that you live on

You know you may not touch a gazillion lives
But you can light up your own space, light up your home

Overall Meaning

The lyrics in Knight & Wolf's song "Return" capture a sense of appreciation for normalcy and everyday life. The singer expresses joy and contentment in returning to a normal situation, such as walking down the street and going grocery shopping. They emphasize that success is often distorted, questioning what it truly means and suggesting that it is unrelated to external markers like albums, videos, or radio play. Despite lacking these conventional measures of success, the singer feels successful in the present moment.

The song further delves into the idea that each individual possesses unique gifts bestowed upon them by a higher power. These gifts are not to be worried about excessively because they come from God. The essence of life and living in the present moment is emphasized, highlighting the importance of embracing one's individuality. The singer acknowledges the need for someone to hold a particular corner in society, a responsibility that goes beyond personal indulgence. While they recognize that they may not be the one to fulfill this duty or maintain their mental stability, they stress the significance of someone stepping up and influencing others through impactful messages.

The lyrics also convey the notion of personal growth and self-improvement. The importance of constantly aspiring to know more and better oneself is underscored as a means of positively impacting the world around us. By working on ourselves and striving for improvement, we can contribute to a brighter environment. The expression "light up the corner that you live on" symbolizes the idea of making a positive impact on one's immediate surroundings, even if it doesn't reach a large audience. The focus is on personal growth and making a positive difference in one's own space, be it their home or immediate community.

Overall, the lyrics in "Return" speak to finding fulfillment in the ordinary aspects of life, questioning societal definitions of success, embracing individual gifts, and the importance of personal growth and positive influence.

I can't explain what I felt when I first listened to it .. damn .. that real House feeling , classic vibe! Thanks Mark Knight , you are a true house maister! This genre should take its respective place back by DJs like him . Maybe I see it cause I want to , but I have a feeling he is going to kill him and that target man is 'EDM' :) Thx
