The title track «Pangea» - the first single from their upcoming album - shows a band who can still write anthems in Norwegian, and that easily can play at both big festival stages and at small village parties.
Kråkesølv’s music is still anchored in two guitars, bass, drums and lyrics written in their own dialect. But this time they have forced themselves to paint with a broader brush. «Pangea» shows a band challenging staid frameworks, and they are moving into landscapes that bands like Dungen and Radiohead have plowed before. But, as always, Kråkesølv land safely on their own Northern Norwegian feet.
The reason why Kråkesølv now are taking a different direction than before, is mainly due to their producer, Lars Horntveth (Jaga Jazzist, Susanne Sundfør). In addition to producing, he has contributed in many ways, with giving good advice, with being a motivator and with playing instruments like piano, mellotron and vibraphone. Throughout the entire recording process, Horntveth has also been offering them fresh coffee and fiery cheers.
Their lyrics have the same melancholy character that has coloured Kråkesølv’s universe since their debut album, and they continue to make connections between interpersonal and universal matters.

The lyrics above are from Kråkesølv's song (Uten tittel). The song is about the creative process and the struggles that come with it. The lines "Korrekturlakk ut på tankekart/Kanskje du bør start på nytt med blanke ark/La penna di ligg te du føl dæ trygg igjen" suggest that the singer is revising their ideas, and perhaps starting over with new, "blank" ideas. The "pen" is left behind as a symbol of security and trust in one's own ideas.
The next lines, "Det kjennes ut som du finn det nu/Men plutselig så går svingen rundt" describe the ups and downs of the creative process. Sometimes it feels like everything is coming together ("det kjennes ut som du finn det nu"), but then suddenly everything falls apart ("plutselig så går svingen rundt"). The line "Det faglige halta førr magiske tanka har gått i surr" suggests that the singer is struggling to reconcile their artistic vision with the technical aspects of their craft.
The last two lines, "Du jaga vind og ba om å bli svøpt inn av netter/Dagen ga etter førr søvn og gjentrekte gardina" convey a sense of restlessness and desperation. The singer is chasing their ideas ("du jaga vind"), hoping for a breakthrough. They long for the darkness and quiet of night ("å bli svøpt inn av netter"), but are stuck in the mundane routines of daily life ("dagen ga etter førr søvn og gjentrekte gardina").
Overall, the song (Uten tittel) speaks to the struggle of the creative process - the highs and lows, the technical and artistic challenges, and the longing for a breakthrough.

Utrolig bra koreografi! Den passet til sangen, og måten den blir danset på og det at det blir gjort ute i snøen får den til å bli enda bedre, den løfter sangen til et nytt nivå! :)

I speak enough Norwegian to get by, but listening to the lyrics in this song I only picked up maybe twenty or so words, the way he weaves all the words together is amazing.

It feels very nice when you break the "boundaries" of the English language to find stuff like Krakelsolv. I am now not only a new happy Krakelsolv fan but also a Kari Vikjord fan. :)
