The title track «Pangea» - the first single from their upcoming album - shows a band who can still write anthems in Norwegian, and that easily can play at both big festival stages and at small village parties.
Kråkesølv’s music is still anchored in two guitars, bass, drums and lyrics written in their own dialect. But this time they have forced themselves to paint with a broader brush. «Pangea» shows a band challenging staid frameworks, and they are moving into landscapes that bands like Dungen and Radiohead have plowed before. But, as always, Kråkesølv land safely on their own Northern Norwegian feet.
The reason why Kråkesølv now are taking a different direction than before, is mainly due to their producer, Lars Horntveth (Jaga Jazzist, Susanne Sundfør). In addition to producing, he has contributed in many ways, with giving good advice, with being a motivator and with playing instruments like piano, mellotron and vibraphone. Throughout the entire recording process, Horntveth has also been offering them fresh coffee and fiery cheers.
Their lyrics have the same melancholy character that has coloured Kråkesølv’s universe since their debut album, and they continue to make connections between interpersonal and universal matters.

Brenn gamle brev og sletta sms-an
Om æ kan nyt forgjengelighet
og slutt å stekk der det gjør ondt
Men det bi neppe å skje så lenge æ vet at et lett hjerte føles tungt
Æ vet æ gjentar meg sjøl
syt og klaga
over samme jenta som før
men æ lova at det her e siste låta
E du, e du, e du, e du, e du kun en knagg og heng låta på
E æ, e æ, e æ virkelig så dum æ òg
E du, e du, e du, e du, e du kun en knagg og heng låta på
E æ, e æ, e æ virkelig så dum æ òg
Virkelig så dum...
The lyrics of Kråkesølv’s song Et Lett Hjerte speak of the desire to let go of emotional baggage and start anew. The singer of the song talks about how they could forget about their troubles and past by moving to a new place, discarding old clothes, and even changing their dialect. They recognize the importance of embracing change and “forgjengelighet” or the transitory nature of things, in order to stop dwelling on past pains. However, they also admit that achieving a light heart may not be easy, as long as they continue to hold on to their old ways of thinking. The repetition of the lines “E du, e du, e du, e du, e du kun en knagg og heng låta på; E æ, e æ, e æ virkelig så dum æ òg” suggests a sense of self-doubt and questioning, perhaps directed towards the person who inspired these feelings. The song ends on a somewhat hopeful note, with the singer acknowledging that this is the last song they will write about the same person, implying that they are finally ready to move on.
In summary, the song is one of reflection, self-awareness, and the struggle to let go of the past. The lyrics are introspective and relatable, inviting the listener to consider their own emotional baggage and what might be holding them back from moving forward.
