The lyrics of Krêposuk's song Le Harpon de Cupidon speak about the famous mythological figure, Cupid, and his unsuccessful attempts to find a companion for the daughter of a wine merchant. Cupid, portrayed as a confused and slightly disoriented figure, sets out with his CB (short for "cheval de bataille" or battle horse) and harpoon to find a suitor for the young woman. Despite his best efforts however, Cupid seems to have a problem with aiming correctly, as his arrows miss their target every time. Frustrated, Cupid resorts to using a harpoon, but even that fails as the wind diverts it towards the daughter of a butcher instead of the intended suitor.
The lyrics suggest that the young woman in question had been constantly pressured by her father to marry, despite not having found a suitable match. Cupid's failed attempts to help end up bringing the daughters of the wine merchant and the butcher together, and witnessing the confusion and unexpected result, Cupid decides to pair them off.
The song is an amusing take on the mythological figure of Cupid who is often portrayed as a skilled archer, able to shoot his arrows with precision and accuracy. Here, however, Cupid is portrayed as a flawed and comedic figure, who struggles with even the most basic of tasks.
