Call You Mine
Kris/Lay (EXO) Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

If you're feeling salty, then I'm your tequila
If you've got the freedom I've got the time
There ain't nothing sweeter than naked emotions
So you show me yours, hon, and I'll show you mine

No ma'm I know this ain't all that you've ever been used to
You with your rings on your fingers and time on your hands
Sometimes it's nice to have somebody nice to be close to
God knows I've been there before you and I understand

I wish that I was the answer to all of your questions
God knows I know you wish you were the answer to mine
Darling if you ain't a thing but a change in direction
Lord don't you know you'd be somethin' I'm lucky to find

I wish that I was the answer to all of your questions
God knows I know you wish you were the answer to mine
Darling if you ain't a thing but a change in direction
Lord don't you know you'd be somethin' I'm lucky to find

So you show me yours and I'll show you mine

Overall Meaning

The chorus of the song "Call You Mine" by Kris/Lay (EXO) starts off with the lyrics "If you're feeling salty, then I'm your tequila". This line states that the singer is ready to be a pick-me-up for their partner. If their partner is feeling down or upset, the singer will be there to lift them up and turn their mood around. The following line, "If you've got the freedom I've got the time", shows that the singer is also willing and available to spend time with their partner, whenever they need them. The next line, "There ain't nothing sweeter than naked emotions", means that the singer values and appreciates honesty and vulnerability in their partner. The line implies that the two can be open and honest with each other without fear of judgment.

The next verse talks about the differences between the singer and their partner. The line, "No ma'm I know this ain't all that you've ever been used to" suggests that the singer is aware that their partner may be used to a more lavish lifestyle. But despite these differences, the singer believes that they can provide something that their partner needs, which is someone to be close to. The line, "God knows I've been there before you and I understand" suggests that the singer has experienced similar situations in their own life and can relate to their partner's feelings.

Overall, "Call You Mine" is a song about being there for someone, no matter what they may be going through. The singer values honesty and vulnerability in a partner and is willing to provide emotional support and companionship.

Call me now, call me later, or call me whenever
Call me friend, call me lover, or call me whatever
I'll call you mine, no ownership implied whatsoever
I'll call it what it is, a natural blend together
Them other brothers like to holler forever
I holler now, how do I sound to you
I'm in town, you can get it
If not you can imagine
Enough with the rap, time for some action

(Can I) call you my own, and can I call you my lover
Call you my one and only girl
(Can I) call you my everything, call you my baby
You're the only one who runs my world

Kris doesnt have a powerhouse vocal (expected from the group's rapper), but I seriously love his voice. It's so husky yet sweet~<3

ja_mycahh I already did :) The song was beautiful but not challenging... He still did an outstanding job and really showed off his beautiful voice... I stick to my opinion though. He keeps getting better and better, which is great, but he still has to work on his technique

I seriously think, KRIS and Lay should start a sub-unit now (although it seems impossible now.. T_T)! I love how they harmonize so well esp. when they do a cover of rainbow and now, call you mine. We all know that Lay's voice is really precious but I appreciated Kris' voice in this because even though he's not a main vocalist, he's voice is LOVELY and he can definitely SING! Gosh!! I'm missing Kris really bad now..
