For The Good Times
Kris Kristofferson Lyrics
Don't look so sad
I know it's over
But life goes on
And this old world will keep on turning
Let's just be glad
We had some time to spend together
There's no need to watch the bridges
That were burning
Lay your head upon my pillow
Close to mine
Hear the whisper of the rain drops
Blowing soft against the window
And make believe you love me
One more time
For the good times
I'll get along
You'll find another
And I'll be here
If you should find you ever need me
Don't say a word about tomorrow
Or forever
There'll be time enough for sadness
When you leave me
Lay your head upon my pillow
Hold your warm and tender body
Close to mine
Hear the whisper of the rain drops
Blowing soft against the window
And make believe you love me
One more time

Kristofferson has said that he would like the first three lines of Leonard Cohen's "Bird on the Wire" on his tombstone:
Like a bird on the wire
Like a drunk in a midnight choir
I have tried in my way to be free

Who's listening this song in 2021 like me?
Memories of those far-off day?
Memories tinged with sadness ?
Reminiscences and Memories crowded your mind?
Long lost friend?
or heyday of your life?
I want hear your stories.
Leave your beautiful stories at my door
I'll leave them for the one who waits behind.
For the good times.

One man - one guitar - no backups - no lasers. Just one helluva storytelling songwriter singing raw emotion from the heart. Does not get any better!!!

And how awesome is it that elvis presley's studio recording of kris's song is light years better?
That's the soul depth and diversity of elvis presley, that his artistry could literally interpret other's lyrics light years better.
Remarkable
