In 2013 she was so desperate for her boyfriend to propose to her that she went on television in front of hundreds of millions of people to sing about it (subtle, eh?). Crazy to think that this song was on Eurovision before gay marriage was legalized in Finland... I remember seeing this as a kid and being amazed that Krista kissed a girl. 7 years later I've realized that I'm a lesbian. I'm so glad that this performance exists

@Harlequin Happened many times before. When Israel won in '78 the Arab countries had a meltdown and cut the broadcast and pretended that a different song had won. They didn't loose broadcasting rights then. In 2013 China cut this kiss out of their broadcast. They didn't loose broadcasting rights then.

It's only in the later years that the EBU started saying enough is enough.

I actually hope one of the Nordic countries wins next year when it is held in Denmark. I'm so proud that my country won this year in Sweden of all countries, as we did in 2000 when Sweden was also the host :D Hope Finland goes all the way next year in Denmark <3 And by the way, I voted for Krista (one of the five countries I voted for), and she at least got 2 points from Denmark though it's not much. ;) Love from Denmark.

In the context of the E.S.C., this was perfect Eurovision pop and a flawless performance. The choreography, the expressions, it all worked very well. I was genuinely surprised it failed so emphatically. As for the best song(s), The Netherlands and Italy put in very soulful performances of their songs. They were never likely to win but that is usually true for the best songs. (Witness Finland and Spain last year). Anyway, just my 2 cents worth.

In recent years, Finland has offered many good songs but did not succeed well after Lordi's victory, and after the second place with Cha cha cha, one wonders if Finland can ever get the chance to win again. the thing is that Conchita did not kiss any woman or man on stage. She was very serious on stage, great vocals and a strong song. Krista was kitsch on stage and the lesbian kiss happened just to provoke #cheap

Wow what a throwback
I was like 9 when i first heard this song, and i loved it. When i heard that this performance was blocked somewhere in the world because of the kiss at the end, i was shocked.
Now i'm shocked because i didn't know that same-sex marriage wasn't legal at that time

Why do I like this song? Some of the lyrics are ... questionable .... but the beat is catchy, the melody is catchy, the performance is fantastic and it's funny, in a weird sort of way ... and it's not even the worst thing Eurovision has had! It's classic Eurovison, and I love it.

I know it wasn't one of the best songs of ESC 2013 but hell it's goddamn addicting. I had to take a 2-3 year pause from this song because it got stuck in my head. I like it but too much can cause brain damage to me.
