As a second-grader, eight-year-old Kristina joined her school's choir writing her first song in third grade. She says she would write poems in class and then later set them to music. During her fifth and sixth grade years, she spent time in local studios recording demos. She participated in school talent shows in her native Ottawa. At 11, she enrolled in dance classes and took formal lessons, at the Canadian Conservatory of Music in Ottawa. She sang in many different styles, from pop to opera to R&B.
With her mother acting as her manager, Kristina performed at state fairs and exhibitions. In 2005 Kristina's vocal coach put her in a group named The Showstoppers with seven other girls and sent them to Florida to sing medleys of ABBA songs and Motown hits at theme parks like Disney World, Universal Studios and SeaWorld. In the summer of 2009, veteran music industry executive Vito Luprano (CΓ©line Dion, Garou) heard some of her recordings and arranged to record some of her renditions.
Her single "Let's Play" from her first album, Tell the World (which is due out in March 2012), has peaked at number 19 on the Canadian Hot 100, on June 11, 2011. Her second single, "Co-Pilot" is currently on rotation on Canadian radio stations, and has reached number 26 on the Canadian Hot 100.
Kristina started performing on tour in Canada in May 2011, and her first album, Tell the World is due out on April 10, 2012.

Haven't you said enough for too long
Talk back
Nothing you say will right what is wrong
The way you talk back
I'm not gone to have to fix what you've done
Oh eh oh oh
It'll happen on it's own
Cause Karma's gonna get you now
And I'm not gonna stick around
Karma's gonna get you now ow ow baby
And I know that I'll end up right
While you're in a mid life crisis
Karma's gonna get you now ow ow baby (yeah, yeah)
Tough luck
I'm not gonna wait for you to behave
Tough luck
Acting like you're so sorry
Oh yah you got me thinking
What I could do to hurt you right back
But wait, oh no
I don't have to anymore
Cause Karma's gonna get you now
And I'm not gonna stick around
Karma's gonna get you now ow ow baby (yeah)
And I know that I'll end up right
While you're in a mid life crisis
Karma's gonna get you now ow ow baby
And I'm not going to stick around
And I'm not going to stick around
Karma's going to get you now
Oh eh oh oh
Right back
Oh eh oh oh
I'll get your sorry ass
Cause Karma's gonna get you now
And I'm not gonna stick around
Karma's gonna get you now ow ow baby (yeah)
And I know that I'll end up right
While you're in a mid life crisis
Karma's gonna get you now ow ow baby
Karma's gonna get you now
And I'm not gonna stick around
Karma's gonna get you now ow ow baby (yeah)
And I know that I'll end up right
While you're in a mid life crisis
Karma's gonna get you now ow ow baby
In the song "Karma," Kristina Maria sings about standing up to someone who has been speaking negatively and unkindly for too long. She asserts that she will not stick around to watch someone hurt her anymore and that karma will take care of the situation. The lyrics call out to the person who has been treating her poorly to stop and think about their actions, as nothing they say can right the wrong they have done. She refuses to wait for them to improve their behavior and talks about not needing to seek revenge because karma will do the job for her.
The chorus of the song is particularly impactful, as Maria repeats the phrase "Karma's gonna get you now" multiple times. She sings with confidence, indicating that she knows her worth and that she will not allow someone to hurt her anymore. The lyrics highlight the idea of consequences and that eventually, people will have to face the repercussions of their negative actions.
Overall, "Karma" is a powerful song that promotes the idea of standing up for oneself and not allowing others to bring down one's self-worth. It showcases the potency of karma and the value of self-respect.
