Krane originally began honing his craft as a vocal portraitist in Abzorbr. Later a more established Krane became a co-contributor in two prominent Minneapolis hip hop groups, Rhymesayer’s Face Candy (Eyedea’s all free-jazz-rap group) and Saturday Morning Soundtrack (Ecid, Impulse, and Capaciti); these unlikely parings gave Krane both the experience and credibility needed to branch off, embarking on his own solo project.
With his solo release, "This Will Work for Now", released on Septemer, 19th, 2008 (Featuring fellow artists, Eyedea, Carnage and Crescent Moon) Krane holds his ground on the stage of underground hip-hop, proving his musicianship and readiness to take his listener to the next level.
Krane has not only had an influence on the local hip-hop scene, he has impacted the community; known for his work with youth in schools, and recently published book, “The Other,” Krane has made it quite clear that he has a vision and that in no way will he fall short of it. Krane toured as a part of Rhymesayers’ Face Candy in Summer 2005 and was asked by Eyedea and Abilities to join them for a national tour during the Winter of 2007. Krane recently was nominated as one of the select acts to play in Soundset 09, a festival thrown by RhymeSayers Ent., which over 13,000 people attended. Krane has Shared the stage with acts such as, Atmosphere, Pharcyde, MF Doom, Safe Francis, Buck 65, Prince Paul, Aceyalone, Myka NIne, El-P, Heiruspecs, Brother Ali, 2-Mex, Cage, Living Legends, Tech N9ne, B-real of cypress hill, Dialated Peoples, Aesop Rock, Blue Print, I Self Divine and POS. Got High

I coulda got down but instead I got high
Chasin’ the dragonflies
Now
My angel cries out loud
Falling forward face first in a mud puddle
Reflecting what’s inside
Life’s a puzzle-
That’s a lie.
It’s a test
I hope you don't pass out
[Verse 1]
It started with a little line and grew into a mound
He crushed a couple pills
And reassured me with a big smile
Handin’ me the straw
Promised me I’d climb over the hill
But never mentioned nothin’ bout the hole
You drown in underground
I found myself minutes later at the kitchen sink
On an elevator sick
Praying for the missing link
But before I had the time to stop and think
The pills already hit my brain and
Damn, I was feelin’ great
Better than I ever felt
Pleasure is a leather belt
Never mind the path to heaven winds
Directly through Hell
I finally feel like I no longer need the help
Stronger than I ever felt
(Stronger than I ever felt)
Stomach tied in knots
I started nodding off
All my close friends gathered round and tried to pry and prod
I wondered if I’m wrong
Feeling like I lied to God
Now their tryin’ to call my mom
Maybe it’s time to stop.
[Hook]
[Verse 2]
Life is too short for
Long nights and sleepy afternoons,
Plus I gotta little one at home
Who wants his Daddy back.
He’s learnin’ how to walk
But hopefully not
In his Daddy’s shoes
In his Daddy’s tracks.
They never told me about the power
Of the drug
Just how to do it, circle of influence was corrupt
They showed me how to fuck
Because nobody ever showed them how to make love
(make love)
Now that I’m done there’s a hole
I feel I can’t fill
It’s as if my whole life’s story
Was crushed up in that pill
The first one probably should have been the last,
Or never been the first
That lead to smoking Fentanyl patches
It didn’t sink in
Until I had to bury him
Walkin’ home from his grave with both eyes starin’ in
(staring in)
He was gonna marry her
(marry her)
And now she’s doing it again. (7x)
[Hook]
The lyrics to Kristoff Krane's song "Got High" explore the consequences of drug addiction with a keen sense of introspection. The opening lines reveal the singer's sense of regret for choosing to get high instead of addressing his problems head-on. Rather than facing his issues, he turns to drugs as a temporary escape. The metaphor of chasing dragonflies implies that the singer is chasing fleeting moments of happiness and failing to confront the underlying issues that lead him to drugs in the first place.
The hook also suggests that the singer's loved ones have been hurt by his addiction. The line "my angel cries out loud" is particularly poignant, as it suggests the singer's guardian angel weeping over his reckless behavior. The image of falling face-first into a mud puddle is a stark reminder of the physical and emotional consequences of addiction. The lyrics also touch on themes of self-acceptance and the search for meaning in life. The line "life's a puzzle-that's a lie" suggests that there is no clear path or solution to life's problems, but rejection of the challenge is not an option.
