Krizz Kaliko began his musical career in the late 1990s when he began working with a local producer by the name of IcyRoc Kraven. Another local rapper by the name of Tech N9ne was also collaborating with IcyRoc at the time, which led to the two rappers meeting. Tech N9ne was currently working on a song titled "Who You Came To See" and Krizz made a comment that the song could have a better hook. Tech offered up the opportunity to prove his case, and Tech was blown away when Kaliko proved just that. Tech would bring Kaliko into his "inner circle" which would eventually result in Kaliko signing to the label co-owned by his new found friend.
Since then, Kaliko has often contributed to albums put out by Tech N9ne, be it being featured as a rapper or simply providing background vocals for the tracks on the album. Although the largest portion of his work is that of his collaborations with Tech, he has also performed similar tasks for fellow labelmates Kutt Calhoun, Skatterman & Snug Brim, and Prozak. Other collaborations include tracks with the Kottonmouth Kings, Potluck, E-40, and Twiztid.
His debut album, Vitiligo released in May 6, 2008, charted on several Billboard charts including peaking at number 19 on the Top Independent Albums in the week of May 28, 2008. In the same week, he peaked at number 167 on the Billboard 200.
His second studio album, Genius, was released on July 14, 2009.
Krizz has chosen the title Shock Treatment for his third studio album. Other titles he considered were "Son of Sam" and "Walk on Water."
Krizz Kaliko is married and has a son, both are mentioned in his music.
He also suffers from the disease, Vitiligo, a skin disorder characterized by smooth, white patches on various parts of the body caused by the loss of natural pigment. Several of these patches are clearly visible on his face. He would later use the name of the disease he suffers from as the title for his debut album. Krizz has also been diagnosed with Bipolar disorder. On his second album, he titled one of the tracks after the disorder.

if I ever go
Followed by, a list of people I love in my book of life
so if you're listenin'
party for your boy
if i ever go
Big Krizz Kaliko
Now I Krizz Kaliko hear bein' the sound mind and body
duly command you to party
and toast to that guy
that made ya see fat guys
in a different light
leap with the beat when he touched the mic
now listen closely cuz I won't repeat myself
and if you're close to me
peep in and a keep a peace for yourself
I make it easy if a people grievin' and livin' in hell
Jesus got me sleepin' peacefully
livin' somewhere else
I ain't got much
some cars and some jewls
and some fools
who love me
fans that's just waitin' to hug me
a wife and a son
who I'm absent from
and my mama who raised
to be just what I've become (Krizz Kaliko!)
you couldn't forget me if you tried to
this is for all my people to write to
and to my sisters and my nephews
uncle Chris ain't left you
cuz through my music
I feel like I can bless you
[Chorus]
Life don't last forever no
if I was to ever go (if I ever go)
remember, (if I ever leave) I love you (if I ever go)
if I was to ever leave
something you done say to me (if I ever go)
remember, (if I ever leave) that I love you
(that's what you should know)
[Verse 2]
Crystal I know you missin' me badly
that picture that boy be pointing to
pick it up and kiss daddy
cuz I ain't ain't far
baby, I'm right by your side
think of me and close your eyes
I knew that I would go first
the only reason I'm even writing this verse
is just to ease the pain
I know that it hurts
I'm always thinkin' the worst
she gotta go on
you can you can go on
and date him in the beyond (and I ain't gonna hate no)
and teach him 'bout his daddy
and how he was a fool he's already funny
he'll probably be one too
or an athlete, a musician
growing up boy you listen
you getting big keep him out the kitchen
listen
and G O D free me
and let me B E
and bury me a C E
spark up a T R E E
and cheers to the guy
as you're gettin' high
for an angel of a man livin' in the sky
[Chorus]
Life don't last forever no
if I was to ever go (if I ever go)
remember, (if I ever leave) I love you (if I ever go)
if I was to ever leave
something you done say to me (if I ever go)
remember, (if I ever leave) that I love you
(that's what you should know)
[Verse 3]
Krizz Kaliko's "If I Ever Go" is a reflective track about making peace with the idea of passing away and leaving his loved ones behind. In the opening verses of the song, Krizz talks about the things he is grateful for and how he wants his fans to celebrate his life when he's gone. He acknowledges that he's not a perfect man, but the beauty of his art can live on even if he's no longer around. He talks about his mother and how he owes everything he is to her. Krizz expresses his love for his wife and son but also acknowledges the fact that he has not been present in their lives as much as he would have liked.
In the second verse, Krizz talks to his daughter, Crystal. He acknowledges the fact that he will leave her behind one day but promises to always be present in her life in spirit. He tells her to keep her head up and keep living life to the fullest even when he's gone. Krizz then transitions to a more chill and relaxed vibe in the third verse, talking about how he wants to be remembered after he's gone, and how he wants his friends to light a tree in his memory.
The song is a heartfelt and emotional tribute to Krizz's life, and it is evident from the lyrics that he is very aware of his own mortality. Krizz's delivery is incredible throughout the song, and the production is top-notch, making it one of the standout tracks on the album.
