One of all-time favorite pieces of music. Like ALL of "Midsummer Night's Dream"...but this movement has deeply affected me since I heard it as a child. Is like a hot cup of sweet fragrant tea while sitting in a comfy chair and looking out at a chilly landscape.

I played this in a HS horn quartet for UIL ensemble contest (received 1st Division medal) 1970. I get goose bumps every time I hear it because it is so very emotive.

I'm learning this on the French Horn (I'm just grade 4 , and grade 6 on the tenor horn) and it's so cool to hear this !!

Love the tempo and the very "matter of fact" quality of the playing. This music kind of plays itself.

Without Mendelssohn and his great performers such as these performers with incomparable skill and exquisite technique ,
the classical music world would have been very lonely and insipid

Lovely. I'm playing this today on cello in a guitar and cello duo for a wedding prelude.
