The Disease & The Cure
Kutless Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
An Epidemic that's infecting the weak
It doesn't matter how I plead
Because can't escape it
[Chorus]
Whoa It's my temptation
Whoa It's so contagious
Inside I'm wanting to be free
But the more I give the more
Consuming it just seems to be
I know it's what I need
To find a cure for this disease
To save me from all of my self deprecation
Is there way to clean the sin off of me
Is there anyone with a vaccine
I'll take the shot even if I bleed
As long as it can heal me
[Chorus]
There only is one cure
That is why I pray
Jesus please take it away
[Chorus]
The song "The Disease & The Cure" by Kutless is about the internal struggle with sin that plagues everyone. The metaphorical disease represents the sin and temptation that has infected the singer. The singer feels weak and can't escape from the temptation that seems to consume them the more they give in. They want to be free from the desire that is inside of them, but it seems to be overpowering them. The lyrics suggest that the disease is something that is present in every person, and it is something that is hard to escape from.
The chorus reinforces the idea of the struggle with sin and how it feels like a contagious disease that has infected the singer. They feel like there is something wrong with them, and they are struggling to find a way to be free. However, the more they give in, the more powerful it seems to become. The only cure for this disease is to turn to Jesus and ask for his help. The song concludes with a plea to Jesus to take away the singer's sin and heal them.
Overall, the song is a reminder that everyone struggles with sin, and it is something that cannot be easily overcome alone. The only cure is to turn to Jesus for help and salvation.
