Born and raised in Melbourne, Minogue first achieved recognition starring in the Australian soap opera Neighbours, playing tomboy mechanic Charlene Robinson. She gained prominence as a recording artist in the late 1980s and released four bubblegum and dance-pop-influenced studio albums produced by Stock Aitken Waterman. By the early 1990s, she had amassed several top ten singles in the UK and Australia, including "I Should Be So Lucky", "The Loco-Motion", "Hand on Your Heart", and "Better the Devil You Know". Taking more creative control over her music, Minogue signed with Deconstruction Records in 1993 and released Kylie Minogue (1994) and Impossible Princess (1997), both of which received positive reviews. She returned to mainstream dance-oriented music with 2000's Light Years, including the number-one hits "Spinning Around" and "On a Night Like This". The follow-up, Fever (2001), was an international breakthrough for Minogue, becoming her best-selling album to date. Two of its singles, "Love at First Sight" and "In Your Eyes", became hits, but its lead single, "Can't Get You Out of My Head" became one of the most successful singles of the 2000s, selling over five million units.
Minogue continued reinventing her image and experimenting with a range of genres on her subsequent albums, which spawned successful singles such as "Slow", "2 Hearts", "All the Lovers", "Santa Baby", "Timebomb" and "Dancing". With her 2020 album DISCO, she became the first female artist to have a chart-topping album in the UK for five consecutive decades. Minogue made her film debut in The Delinquents (1989) and portrayed Cammy in Street Fighter (1994). She has also appeared in the films Moulin Rouge! (2001), Jack & Diane, Holy Motors (2012) and San Andreas (2015). In 2014, she appeared as a judge on the third series of The Voice UK and The Voice Australia. Her other ventures include product endorsements, children's books, fashion, and charitable work.
Minogue was appointed an Officer of the Order of the British Empire in the 2008 New Year Honours for services to music. She was appointed by the French government as a Chevalier (knight) of the Ordre des Arts et des Lettres for her contribution to the enrichment of French culture. In 2005, while Minogue was on tour, she was diagnosed with breast cancer. She was awarded an honorary Doctor of Health Science (D.H.Sc.) degree by Anglia Ruskin University in 2011 for her work in raising awareness for breast cancer. At the 2011 ARIA Music Awards, she was inducted by the Australian Recording Industry Association into the ARIA Hall of Fame. She was appointed Officer of the Order of Australia (AO) in the 2019 Australia Day Honours.

A Lifetime to Repair
Kylie Minogue Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
'Cause I'm broken-hearted way too soon
I let my guard down
The devil's gone and left me a bruise, mmm
Rocks at the bottom, will I try again?
Romeo still lives in my head
Thought I would settle down
When happy ever after'd been said, mmm
Six, five, four, three
Too many times I wish I'd never cared
Been torn and twisted, oh I swear
Too many nights crying that it's not fair
If I get hurt again
I'd need a lifetime to repair
I'd need a lifetime to repair
I'd need a lifetime to repair
They told me stories and they got me good
Who's sayin' fairytales aren't true?
If he saves me from the dragon
Well for that lovin', I'd be a fool, mmm
I'd overlook the stupid things he does
Straight up forgive him when he's wrong
When he's fallen off the wagon
We'll still dance to our favourite slow song, mmm
Six, five, four, three
Too many times I wish I'd never cared
Been torn and twisted, oh I swear
Too many nights crying that it's not fair
If I get hurt again
I'd need a lifetime to repair
I'd need a lifetime to repair
I'd need a lifetime to repair
They say that love is everywhere
But it's a game of truth or dare
Gimme that guarantee and I'll be there
Heaven knows I tried my best
Now I'm swimming in the sea of loneliness
Wanna take that chance and wanna say yeah
But too many times I wish I'd never cared
Been torn and twisted, oh I swear
Too many nights crying that it's not fair
If I get hurt again
I'd need a lifetime to repair
I'd need a lifetime to repair
I'd need a lifetime to repair
The lyrics of "A Lifetime to Repair" by Kylie Minogue & Garibay delve into the theme of love and heartbreak. The song tells the story of a person who has experienced numerous heartbreaks and is now hesitant to open themselves up to love again. They feel betrayed and bruised by past relationships, with Cupid no longer shining his love upon them.
The singer reflects on their past experiences, contemplating whether they should try to find love once more. They mention letting their guard down and being left bruised by the devil, metaphorically referring to the pain caused by their past romantic encounters. They question whether they should try again, considering the risks and past disappointments.
The chorus repeats the sentiment of how many times they have wished they hadn't cared, and how they have been torn and twisted by their past relationships. They express their frustration at the unfairness of it all and acknowledge that if they were to get hurt again, it would take a lifetime to repair the damage done.
The second verse introduces the idea of fairy tales and the hope that someone will come and save them from their troubles. They mention being willing to overlook their partner's flaws and forgive them when they make mistakes. There is a sense of longing for a stable and lasting relationship, even when faced with challenges.
The bridge of the song explores the concept of love being everywhere but also a game of risks. The singer expresses their desire for a guarantee in love, but they find themselves swimming in loneliness. Despite their past experiences, they still want to take a chance and say yes to love, acknowledging the difficulty in finding that balance between protecting oneself and opening up to new possibilities.
Overall, "A Lifetime to Repair" captures the vulnerability and hesitation that can arise from past heartbreaks, while also expressing the desire to find love despite the risks involved.
