Born and raised in Melbourne, Minogue first achieved recognition starring in the Australian soap opera Neighbours, playing tomboy mechanic Charlene Robinson. She gained prominence as a recording artist in the late 1980s and released four bubblegum and dance-pop-influenced studio albums produced by Stock Aitken Waterman. By the early 1990s, she had amassed several top ten singles in the UK and Australia, including "I Should Be So Lucky", "The Loco-Motion", "Hand on Your Heart", and "Better the Devil You Know". Taking more creative control over her music, Minogue signed with Deconstruction Records in 1993 and released Kylie Minogue (1994) and Impossible Princess (1997), both of which received positive reviews. She returned to mainstream dance-oriented music with 2000's Light Years, including the number-one hits "Spinning Around" and "On a Night Like This". The follow-up, Fever (2001), was an international breakthrough for Minogue, becoming her best-selling album to date. Two of its singles, "Love at First Sight" and "In Your Eyes", became hits, but its lead single, "Can't Get You Out of My Head" became one of the most successful singles of the 2000s, selling over five million units.
Minogue continued reinventing her image and experimenting with a range of genres on her subsequent albums, which spawned successful singles such as "Slow", "2 Hearts", "All the Lovers", "Santa Baby", "Timebomb" and "Dancing". With her 2020 album DISCO, she became the first female artist to have a chart-topping album in the UK for five consecutive decades. Minogue made her film debut in The Delinquents (1989) and portrayed Cammy in Street Fighter (1994). She has also appeared in the films Moulin Rouge! (2001), Jack & Diane, Holy Motors (2012) and San Andreas (2015). In 2014, she appeared as a judge on the third series of The Voice UK and The Voice Australia. Her other ventures include product endorsements, children's books, fashion, and charitable work.
Minogue was appointed an Officer of the Order of the British Empire in the 2008 New Year Honours for services to music. She was appointed by the French government as a Chevalier (knight) of the Ordre des Arts et des Lettres for her contribution to the enrichment of French culture. In 2005, while Minogue was on tour, she was diagnosed with breast cancer. She was awarded an honorary Doctor of Health Science (D.H.Sc.) degree by Anglia Ruskin University in 2011 for her work in raising awareness for breast cancer. At the 2011 ARIA Music Awards, she was inducted by the Australian Recording Industry Association into the ARIA Hall of Fame. She was appointed Officer of the Order of Australia (AO) in the 2019 Australia Day Honours.

Marry the Night
Kylie Minogue Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
I won't give up on my life
I'm a warrior queen
Live passionately tonight
I'm gonna marry the dark
Gonna make love to the stark
I'm a soldier to my own emptiness
I'm gonna marry the night
I'm gonna marry the night
I'm gonna marry the night
I'm gonna marry the night
I'm not gonna cry anymore
I'm gonna marry the night
Leave nothing on these streets to explore
M-m-m-marry m-m-m-marry m-m-m-marry the night
Oh, m-m-marry m-m-m-marry m-m-m-marry the night
I'm gonna lace up my boots
Throw on some leather and cruise
Down the street that I love
In my fishnet gloves
I'm a sinner
Then I'll go down to the bar
But I won't cry anymore
I'll hold my whiskey up high
Kiss the bartender twice
I'm a loser
I'm gonna marry the night
I'm gonna marry the night
I'm gonna marry the night
I'm not gonna cry anymore
I'm gonna marry the night
Leave nothing on these streets to explore
M-m-m-marry m-m-m-marry m-m-m-marry the night
Oh, m-m-marry m-m-m-marry m-m-m-marry the night
Nothing's too cool
To take me from you
New York is not
Just a tan that you'll never loose
Love is the new
Denim or black
Skeleton guns
Or wedding bells in the attic
Get Ginger ready
Climb the Camino front
Won't poke holes in the seats with my heels
'Cause that's where we make love
Come on and run
Turn the car on and run
I'm gonna marry the night
I'm not gonna cry anymore
I'm gonna marry the night
Leave nothing on these streets to explore
M-m-m-marry m-m-m-marry m-m-m-marry the night
Oh, m-m-marry m-m-m-marry m-m-m-marry the night
M-m-m-marry m-m-m-marry m-m-m-marry the night (oh)
I'm gonna marry, marry (just like Gaga)
I'm gonna marry, marry
The night, the night, the night
The night, the night, the night
The night, the night, the night
The night, the night, the night (watch me walk like Gaga)
In the song "Marry the Night" by Kylie Minogue, the lyrics convey a sense of determination and empowerment. The singer is declaring their intention to fully embrace and engage with the darkness and challenges of life, symbolized by "the night." By choosing to "marry" the night, they are committing to not give up on their life and to live passionately. This can be interpreted as a refusal to let any obstacles or hardships define or discourage them.
The lyrics also highlight the singer's acceptance of their own flaws and struggles. They embrace their own emptiness and acknowledge their past mistakes and failures. Despite these setbacks, they see themselves as a warrior queen and a winner, indicating a determination to overcome any negativity or self-doubt.
The song further emphasizes the singer's transformation and liberation from their previous emotional state. They declare that they will no longer cry, symbolizing a determination to avoid dwelling on sadness or regret. Instead, they will leave behind the familiar streets and explore new possibilities, refusing to be confined by their past experiences.
The lyrics "I'm gonna lace up my boots, throw on some leather and cruise, down the street that I love, in my fishnet gloves, I'm a sinner" suggest a rebellious attitude and a desire to break free from societal expectations. The singer is unapologetically embracing their own identity, embracing their own style and sexuality. They are proud of their choices, owning their so-called sins, and expressing a sense of liberation and self-confidence.
In the final moments of the song, the lyrics introduce references to "Ginger," "Camino," and "seats with my heels," which might allude to personal experiences or symbolic representations. These specific references add depth to the narrative, but their interpretation remains subjective and open to individual analysis.
Overall, "Marry the Night" is a song about reclaiming one's power, embracing personal struggles, and choosing to fully engage with life's challenges. It encourages listeners to face their fears, reject societal norms, and celebrate their own individuality and uniqueness.

She might not have the vocal range of Lady Gaga, but she's probably one of the only artists who can actually cover Lady Gaga's Art without downgrading it's value.
@miloradvlaovic
She has higher range than gaga - who has like 2.3 octaves...
@ladyselin35
Gaga sings it bass, Kylie has higher pitched.
@williammackay3321
Well that shows how much you know … Kylies ‘RANGE’ is far greater than gagas …..’ gaga could never dream to get to to a high e over middle c ….. Kylie can hit it better than Mariah and iwth great ease than Mariah …..gagas vocal ‘ RANGE’ is actually very very small …. But she has great control and more power but her vocal RANGE is about 1/4 of Kylies … learn what range means darling cos Kylies ‘RANGE’ is far far far far far greater she can go from very low bottom notes to very high top notes gaga doesn’t have anywhere near the span of RANGE Kylie does
@williammackay3321
In I should I be so lucky there are 6 key changes one after the other … gaga could never traverse those key changes cos she doesn’t have a big range darling
@pedromendesrbd
She's got a point. She's an icon, she's a legend, and she is the moment. Now, come on, now...
