One More Reason
L.A.GUNS Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Angel mercy, tears like rain
Hurt so good, can't feel no pain
Paint it black, drives me insane
So far gone I'm not the same
You give me one more reason
One more reason to die
You'd be blood with no regrets
English words, they won't forget
Crimes of passion, cigarettes
Move by night he won't suspect
That you give me one more reason
One more reason to die
And I ask myself the same question
Every night
What makes me restless
What makes me fight
Car ahead eliminate
Smoking gun
That sealed their fate
Flesh and blood to instigate
85 dollars
Ain't she great

You give me one more reason
One more reason to die

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to L.A. Guns' song "One More Reason" convey intense emotions and depict a dark and tumultuous relationship. The song starts with references to an angel with mercy and tears like rain, suggesting a conflicting mix of love and pain. The line "Hurt so good, can't feel no pain" portrays the addictive nature of the relationship, where the pain becomes almost pleasurable.

The line "Paint it black, drives me insane" indicates the chaos and turmoil that the singer is experiencing, possibly due to the actions of their partner. The phrase "So far gone I'm not the same" conveys a sense of losing oneself or being deeply affected by the relationship.

The chorus, "You give me one more reason, one more reason to die," suggests that the singer's love for their partner is so intense that it can lead them to the brink of self-destruction. The lyrics imply that the love they share is destructive and potentially lethal.

In the second verse, the lyrics mention "crimes of passion" and "cigarettes," which may suggest a volatile and risky lifestyle. The line "Move by night he won't suspect" alludes to secretive behavior and possibly even criminal activities.

The bridge of the song features introspection and self-questioning. The singer ponders what keeps them restless and what drives them to fight. These questions underline the internal struggle and the destructive nature of their relationship.

Title is grossly incorrect - this is NOT the uncensored version.

Final lyrics.... (in the uncensored version).

"Car ahead eliminate, HERE'S MY BABY SHARON TATE,
Smoking gun that sealed her fate,
 85 dollars, ain't she great,

But, you, give me one more reason...."

I’ve been a fan since the s/t album.

They were virtually underground until Ballad Of Jayne, then they were in the mainstream and talked about a lot. This album was one of their best from 1988, and almost no one was talking about them then. One More Reason, Sex Action, and Electric Gypsy were all amazing songs that could compete with almost anything that was popular in metal back then.

No one seemed to notice it at the time...one of the best records of the 80's in my opinion.

Phil Lewis and Traci Guns are a very underrated Singer/Guitarist duo. Without them there is no LA Guns.
