The Warning
L.U.K.L. Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Handed it all over
back to my creator
I know it appears to be worn and faded
but its hardly ever been used

I skipped a lot of lessons
the landscape passed me over
I feared a lot of wasted time
I let it all take hold and its rotted me

I need a result again
my mind has got to take shelter
from the hell coming down
the warning signs, the warning signs

No ulterior motives
and no outside interference
order in the morning, we're quite disciplined at night
so keep me here

it seems I've tipped the balance
and wired out of sequence
there's smoke coming from the motor
like the whole things gonna blow
so don't you go yet

I need a result again
my mind has got to take shelter
from the hell coming down
the warning signs, the warning signs

I'll swim in the freezing sea
while my friends still pass me
like my list of every simple truth that I have learned
and if I can make you happy
the favour will be instantly returned

I need a result again
my mind has got to take shelter

from the hell coming down
the warning signs, the warning signs

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of L.U.K.L.'s song "The Warning" depict a sense of surrender and reflection, as well as a longing for guidance and protection from the chaos in the world. The line "Handed it all over, back to my creator" suggests a relinquishing of control and a return to one's spiritual or higher power for guidance. The following line, "I know it appears to be worn and faded, but it's hardly ever been used," indicates that despite the wear and tear on one's spirit or soul, it has not been fully utilized or explored.

The artist then speaks of skipping lessons and feeling overlooked by the landscape, conveying a sense of missed opportunities and wasted time. The phrase "it's rotted me" suggests that these missed chances or failures have had a negative impact on the artist's well-being. The repetition of the line "I need a result again, my mind has got to take shelter" reflects a desire for clarity and protection from the impending chaos and suffering symbolized by the "hell coming down" and the "warning signs."

The next verse describes a state of order and discipline in the morning, contrasting with the uncontrolled and chaotic nature of the artist's inner world. The line "so keep me here" implies a plea to be kept in this place of discipline and stability. The mention of being "wired out of sequence" and the imagery of smoke coming from the motor symbolize an internal imbalance and the feeling that things are on the verge of collapsing. The plea "so don't you go yet" is a plea for support or companionship in the face of impending challenges.

The final verse speaks of the artist's willingness to endure hardships ("swim in the freezing sea") while others continue to surpass them. The mention of a "list of every simple truth that I have learned" suggests a collection of personal insights or lessons. The line "and if I can make you happy, the favor will be instantly returned" expresses a desire to reciprocate happiness, suggesting that the artist finds fulfillment in bringing joy to others.

Overall, "The Warning" portrays a vulnerable and reflective mindset, seeking protection from the difficulties of life and yearning for a sense of purpose and peace amidst the chaos.

The companion video of this plane and these two gentlemen flying into Lukla is absolutely first rate and highly recommended.

2. Thank you for not using music!

Hey Jimbo have you got a bio of your flight career to date? It would be great to hear how you went from flying in Nepal to top dressing back in NZ.

Jimbo Burgess

Hey mate, that's a great idea. I'll see what I can do 😁 Thanks for the input, I really appreciate it 👍

John Cena

Massive respect to you. Just wanted to say that, stay safe out there

ClayZ

Thanks for the flight, that was fun. I’ve watched many of these Lukla vids. I just assumed there would be fuel available. That you have to carry everything you need for the trip out and back plus reserves helps to drive home the extreme rural-ness out there.

Aafje Yakubu

That looks like an amazing place to fly!

Pure Glide

Ah the good 'ol days, when we could go places

WindyBoi
