1. Lines is also a 4 piece indie-pop band from Japan
2. Lines is an indie four-piece band from Perth/ Northam, Western Australia comprising of Andrew Clarke, Corey Marriott, Christopher Watson and the recently added James Lucas.
From the band's myspace;
"Once upon a time there was a young band called The Novocaines. The Novocaines used to play their music to all the people in Northam, the tiny village they lived in.
But one day Corey, the singing elf, decided that he needed a new band, and so he left on a long journey to the coast in search of a wizard called Andrew. When he arrived Corey and Andrew spoke long into the night about many a thing.
"I am Corey, the singing elf! Would you like to be in my band?" to which the wizard replied "Yes"
Ohhhh the things they spoke of. There were so many.
And thus the two became friends.
Now although Andrew had the mighty beard of a wizard and Corey the slender legs of an elf, the pair quickly realised there was something missing from their new band. And that was someone with a mighty chin.
Several more weeks passed before the two weary travellers came upon a homeless man who was in desperate need of a haircut. But little did they know, that "man" was actually a drumming troll who had cunningly disguised himself in the clothes of a homeless man! As the troll revealed himself the wizard Andrew turned to run away. But Corey held him back for it was one of those nice troll drummers. You know, the ones who eat vegetables instead of people and go to the gym and stuff. Corey, using his elvish skills of persuasion, then tricked the troll, whom we discovered was called Christopher, into joining the band!
"I am Corey, the singing elf! And this is my (totally not gay) companion Andrew, the bearded wizard! Would you like to join our band?" to which Chris replied "Do I get paid?"
After what must have been years of traveling around the mystical plains surrounding the city, the three young men, or "Lions" as they had been collectively referred to recently, were amazed when one day their convoy was abruptly halted by a blockage in the path. It became instantly apparent that an intergalactic explorer had lost his way and crashed his mighty spaceship into the grounds in front of our three friends. As the half-alien, half-robot emerged from the wreckage, Corey, the magical elf, naturally went to see if he could fix some shit, being the fully-qualified-intergalactic-spaceship-magical-mechanic-elf that he is. In the meantime Andrew, the bearded wizard, and Chris, the effeminate troll, befriended the half-alien, half-robot explorer, whom they assigned the name Jimi and seeing as though he had nothing better to do, he joined their band too..."

LINES Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Promise not to let me go
We don′t talk emotions
We don't wanna be alone
And the planet keeps turning
The bright light is burning too fast
We′re under cover
Not disappearing now
You're keeping me in lockdown
Yeah your love is gonna fuck with my head
You're keeping me in lockdown
Just let the world outside dissolve
Pills and kicks to numb it all
The mitsubishi poison
Unlimited emotions
And the planet keeps turning
The bright light is burning too fast
We can be trouble
I guess that we won′t last
And your love is gonna fuck with my head
You′re keeping me in lockdown
Yeah your love is gonna fuck with my head
You're keeping me in lockdown
And the planet keeps turning
The bright light is burning too fast
And we keep telling ourselves
That it will pass
And your love is gonna fuck with my head
You′re keeping me in lockdown
Yeah your love is gonna fuck with my head
You're keeping me in lockdown
In LINES's song Lockdown, the lyrics portray a sense of isolation and feeling trapped in a relationship due to the inability to express emotions properly. The opening lines 'Let the world outside dissolve, Promise not to let me go,' convey a longing to be held and comforted. However, the inability to express emotions is highlighted in the line 'We don't talk emotions, We don't wanna be alone.' The pair is avoiding opening up about their feelings and thus not able to progress in their relationship.
The chorus, 'And your love is gonna fuck with my head, You're keeping me in lockdown,' reinforces the idea that the relationship is causing emotional turmoil and the feeling of being trapped. The reference to 'Pills and kicks to numb it all, The mitsubishi poison, Unlimited emotions,' brings attention to the use of drugs to cope with the emotional distress in this relationship. The line 'We can be trouble, I guess that we won't last' shows the inevitability of the relationship's failure due to a lack of proper communication and emotional expression.
Overall, the song highlights not only the difficulties of being in a relationship where emotions aren't shared, but the toll it takes on one's mental health. The use of drugs is not a healthy method of coping with these emotions and only serves to make the situation worse.
