Harvest Moon
LIVING ROOM - Neil Young Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Hear what I have to say
Just like children sleepin'
We could dream this night away
But there's a full moon risin'
Let's go dancin' in the light
We know where the music's playin'
Because I'm still in love with you
I want to see you dance again
Because I'm still in love with you
On this harvest moon
When we were strangers
I watched you from afar
When we were lovers
I loved you with all my heart
But now it's gettin' late
And the moon is climbin' high
I want to celebrate
See it shinin' in your eye
Because I'm still in love with you
I want to see you dance again
Because I'm still in love with you
On this harvest moon
Because I'm still in love with you
I want to see you dance again
Because I'm still in love with you
On this harvest moon
Neil Young's song "Harvest Moon" is a beautiful love song that captures the essence of two people who have been together for a long time. The lyrics evoke the image of a couple sitting in their living room, just like children sleeping, dreaming the night away. With a full moon rising, the couple decides to step out of their comfort zone and go dancing in the moonlight. They know exactly where the music is playing, and they want to experience the night to the fullest.
The song's chorus, "Because I'm still in love with you, I want to see you dance again, on this harvest moon," emphasizes the love shared by the couple. They have been together for a long time, and the love that they share is still as strong as it was when they first met. The song also highlights the idea that love is about wanting to celebrate and experience life's joys with the person you love.
The second verse of the song shows the progression of the couple's relationship from strangers to lovers. When they first met, the singer watched his partner from afar, and now they have reached a stage of deep intimacy where they are comfortable dreaming the night away together. The song ends with the singer expressing his desire to see his partner dance again, emphasizing his love and appreciation for the beautiful moments they share.
Overall, "Harvest Moon" is a touching love song that highlights the power of love to bring two people together and keep them close for a long time.

. . . There is just s o v e r y m u c h
... that we know so very little about .
And then in our depths of both grief
and ' n o t - k n o w I n g ' . . . this
c o m e s - t o p a s s , meant in it's
most literal sense ... it is not a coincidence - they do not exist .
She IS alive and well - for the both of you
dear fellows listed above - and all others
who know of such days and nights .
They know of our deepest sorrows and will
send ' s I g n s ' to reassure us that
' a l l i s w e l l ' .
No , I've never heard a Neil Young song
being played in a store or supermarket,
except just the once and that is one hell of a ratio .
It was ' H a r v e s t M o o n ' .

In the hallway between classes, stand off to the side for a moment or two. Look for someone with their head down, avoiding eye contact and just putting one foot in front of the other. See if you can find them after that class. Approach quietly and say to them "Hello, my name is Ginny. I feel the same way." See what happens. I have found that if I can connect/help someone else, my own anxiety quiets down a bit. Peace.
