LaLion had his first encounter with music at the age of 6 when his parents gifted him a guitar for Christmas. His first inspiration was his father (Michael Lalaian), who initially gave him some lessons on the instrument, and today he draws inspiration from artists and bands such as Linkin Park, Nirvana, Eminem, Kanye West, Jay-Z, Green Day, Kendrick Lamar, J. Cole, Drake, and Twenty One Pilots. Grant defines his music as a combination of all his inspirations, a blend of rock, rap, and pop.
Throughout his teenage years, Grant took guitar lessons and performed small gigs (sometimes with his brother Arman Lalaian as the drummer) at cafes and various open mics. Around the age of 15, the performer of "Devil Himself" gathered some friends and started a band together. The band lasted about a year, but eventually, he grew tired of the band dynamic. At 17, he bought a $20 microphone and immediately started releasing music on his own. He has been releasing one song per week, every Thursday, and has no plans to release a debut album; so far, he has released the mixtapes: "Grape", "Lime", "Kiwi", "Generation of Sedation", and "Mango".
In the first two years of his career, he released a single titled "Be Jay Z", which accumulated over 1.5 million streams and earned him a spot on Skyzoo's "In Celebration of Us" tour in Washington. In the past, he has opened shows for artists such as R.A. The Rugged Man, Skyzoo, A-F-R-O, and D Savage. LaLion has been featured on Spotify editorial playlists such as Varsity Bars, Fresh Finds, Fresh Finds Hip-Hop, and The Sound of Deep Underground Hip Hop.
Currently, with over 40 million streams just on the Spotify platform, LaLion continues to release music regularly, with no plans to change his strategy.
The Promise

Told you I can't fake shit
All I see is product of me
Working in the basement
Promise ima make it
Told you all be patient
All of my ambition manifesting
Better face it
You look devastated
Told you I'd be better than the rest of all you rappers out here basic
I promise she naked
You all look frustrated
I promise
I promise
I promise
I promise mom I'm on a spaceship
Look at me I'm living in the matrix
Sippin' on the venom with a set of 10s I'm feeling fucking flagrent
Still I'm gonna kill em on occasion
No 2 life PlayStation
This is innovation
Entertain generations
All u rappers complacent where your patients you ain't Sosa
I been cheifin keef with your Madonna's come on over
To your amazement, she say she leaving you for a soldier
Lion of the underground taking control like Hova
Witness this like Jehovah
Boarder line quarter snorter
Coroner for a disorder
Bring him business this aura
Spirit taint its horror
I said it make it, you sorer
Than losers losing the music to stupid lucid maneuvers
I promise ima make it
Told you I can't fake shit
All I see is product of me
Working in the basement
Promise ima make it
Told you all be patient
All of my ambition manifesting
Better face it
I promise i'm wasted
You look devastated
Told you I'd be better than the rest of all you rappers out here basic
I promise she naked
You all look frustrated
I promise
I promise
I promise
Il be all in hall of fames then
Living with the killers in the same trends
I don't need no love
I need Mercedes with the face tints
This is what u hate bitch
Underground sensation
Fuck the labels, food on tables, we don't need no changes
No need for enslavement, I'm making the same shit
Haven't changed a single thing about LaLion stayed the same kid
Your music sound vacant
Mine full of the statements
Braggadocio is all you know you poppin pills it feels amazing
Til you coming down
Down down down
Til you coming down
Down down down
Til you coming down
Down down down
Down down down
Down
I promise ima make it
Told you I can't fake shit
All I see is product of me
Working in the basement
Promise ima make it
Told you all be patient
All of my ambition manifesting
Better face it
I promise i'm wasted
You look devastated
Told you I'd be better than the rest of all you rappers out here basic
I promise she naked
You all look frustrated
I promise
I promise
I promise
I'll be all in hall of fames then
In the song "The Promise" by LaLion, the artist expresses his determination and confidence in making it in the music industry. He starts by emphasizing his authenticity, stating that he can't fake anything and that his success will be a result of his hard work in the basement. He urges others to be patient, as his ambition is manifesting and they should accept and acknowledge it.
LaLion then addresses his detractors, claiming that he will surpass them and prove himself as superior to other rappers who he perceives as basic. He asserts that he is wasted, possibly referring to being under the influence of drugs or alcohol, but the way he confidently states it suggests that it doesn't hinder his progress. He observes that his detractors look devastated, possibly due to their realization that he will surpass them in the industry. The repetition of "I promise" adds emphasis to his determination and serves as a reiteration of his dedication to achieving his goals.
The artist then imagines his success and envisions himself living a lavish lifestyle. He references being on a spaceship and living in the matrix, metaphorically representing his detachment from the ordinary world. Drinking venom and being in the company of attractive women further enhances this image of a luxurious and rebellious lifestyle. LaLion declares that he will occasionally "kill them," meaning he will surpass others and make his mark in the industry. He dismisses other rappers for being complacent and lacking the drive and innovation he possesses. LaLion sees himself as a leader, likening his control over the underground scene to that of a powerful figure like Jay-Z. He suggests that his artistry is significant enough to be witnessed by all, likening it to a religious experience in which people can see the truth.
The final part of the song reiterates his promise to make it in the industry, declaring that he can't fake it and that his success is a product of his own hard work. LaLion's ambition is manifesting, and he challenges others to face the reality that he will surpass them. He claims to be wasted again, indicating that he may still be indulging in drugs or alcohol. He observes that his detractors seem devastated by his success and confidently asserts that he will be better than other rappers who he sees as basic. The mention of a naked woman possibly represents both his success and the jealousy of others who are frustrated by his achievements. Finally, he envisions himself being recognized in the hall of fame, living alongside other accomplished artists.
