Forget
La Havas Lianne Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Waste all your time writing love songs, but you don't love me
All too familiar when it feels wrong
I think you're just lonely

Do you mind?
I found another new way to look at
Use your time, to pack away your every verse and every rhyme
Forget, all the words that let you break my heart
Forget, that I'm the person tearing you apart!

Remember way back when you played me
I lost that hand
So please don't try serenade me
I am a one man band

Say goodbye
Don't need to hear you play
So many other ways to relax
So pack away your every verse and every rhyme

Forget, all the words that let you break my heart!
Forget, that I'm the person tearing you apart!

Forget, all the words that let you break my heart!
Forget, that I'm the person tearing you apart!

I think it's time for me to leave
But I gave this piece of mind for free
So if you hear my sound advice, there is no need to tell you twice
There is no need to tell you twice!

Forget, all the words that let you break my heart!
Forget, that I'm the person tearing you apart!

Forget, all the words that let you break my heart!
Forget, that I'm the person tearing you apart!

So if you hear my sound advice, there is no need to tell you twice!

Overall Meaning

In "Forget," Lianne La Havas sings about a relationship that has gone sour. The opening line, "Waste all your time writing love songs, but you don't love me," sets the tone for the entire song. The singer is fed up with her partner's hollow expressions of love and wants him to move on. The line "I think you're just lonely" suggests that she believes he is using her to fill a void in his life, rather than truly caring for her.

The chorus is a direct message to her partner to forget about their relationship and move on. She tells him to "pack away your every verse and every rhyme," indicating that she doesn't want to hear any more love songs from him. In the second verse, she reminds him of how he hurt her in the past and how she's not interested in his attempts to win her back.

The bridge is the singer's final warning to her partner that it's time for her to leave. She offers her sound advice for him to forget about her and move on. Overall, "Forget" is a bittersweet song about the end of a relationship and the singer's need for closure.

I'll never understand why she didn't get HUGE. Insanely underrated.

@paristexas919

If she was huge she would only be another gaga or another swift, she would be nothing...

@jutjubow

She would have to record music that is more lame or wear huge wigs.

@irener.3503

'cause genuine artistry is not for the mass, simple... She is an Artist in all words, no need to show meat...

@thelightshinesinthedarknes2456

Because she has integrity and doesnโ€™t compromise.

@MjK3Y9

True artists don't want to be HUGE
They do it for the pure love of Music . ๐ŸŽถ

This lady is the cream of the crop, in her vocals, songwriting, creativity, uniqueness, beauty, and passion. Truly a one-of-a-kind genius.

I heard the acoustic version before i heard this one couple days ago and man trust me this womans voice is better untouched by even the slightest thing.

Thanks, I'm going to seek theacustic out, that song "Levitate" has an acustic over by Milky Chance & I absolutely love that song when they sing it that way. Not so much the pop one, I don't hate it, but it is nothing like it. You're probably way young but if you know, "Born in the U.S.A." by Springstein, the Acustic is a million times better & it's easy to see the meaning he intended. But of course, time made that easier as well, even the then president of the America (Ronald Reagan) misunderstood it as being patriotic & he mentioned it in a speech. It's kinda the opposite of that though.

Here from NPR tiny desk concert and she was spectacular live, I'm about to download Blood rn, I'm her newest fan...never too late I suppose
