Some Die Young
Laleh Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

I will tell your story if you die
I will tell your story and keep you alive
The best you can
I will tell them to the children
If we have some, if we have some
That I've always felt the feeling we would die young
Some die young, some die young
Some, some die young
But you better hold on
So many things I need to say to you
Please don't, don't let me go
And we said we would die together

Some die young
But you better hold on
So many things I need to say to you
Please don't, don't let me go
And we said we would die together
Some die young

I will tell your story if you try
But how long will your thoughts of valleys stay green
When the world you were born in changes with seasons
Will you run with the stream or will you run alone
Or will you run against and finally reveal
Why some die young, why some die young
Why some

Some die young
But you better hold on
So many things I need to say to you
Please don't, don't let me go
And we said we would die together

Some die young
But you better hold on
So many things I need to say to you
Please don't, don't let me go
And we said we would die together

Some die young
But you better hold on
So many things I need to say to you
Please don't, don't let me go
And we said we would die together
Some die young
Some die young

She walks with her head in the sand
They will never die

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to Laleh's song "Some Die Young" highlight the desire to keep memories and the spirit of a person alive even after they have passed away. The singer promises to tell the story of the person if they die and to keep them alive in memory. The singer reminisces about the conversations they had with the person and the things they wanted to say to them. The repetition of the phrase "some die young" seems to suggest that death can come at any time, and it is important to cherish life and hold on to the people we love. The lyrics also touch upon the idea of change and adapting to new situations, as the world we are born in may change with the seasons. The singer wonders if the person she is singing about will adapt and go with the flow or against it.

The song's narrator also speaks of the desire to die together, which could be interpreted in a number of ways. It could be a romantic notion of two lovers growing old together, or it could be a symbolic expression of two people facing the challenges of life together, even to the point of death. Overall, the song reflects on life and the inevitability of death, but also the importance of holding onto memories, staying strong and living life to the fullest.

My girlfriend died without warning about about 3 weeks ago. She was 29 and really loved Laleh's music. Me browsning youtube for her music is a way to handle my sorrows and remember who she was. For me the support of friends and family have been a great help but it took 1-2 weeks before i even had the energy to talk about what i was feeling inside. When you are feeling like i do and like many of us do at some point in our life it is important to get professional help. For me it helped alot and it made it easier so talk to the people that knows and love me. Wherever you are in life, try to remember the good memories and even try to imagine a day when you can get new ones.

My cousin in-law unexpectedly died recently, she was only 42 and a loving wife to my cousin(my auntie's son) for 11 years, it came as a huge shock to my family and she was a lovely down to earth woman. I remember having conversations with her and it's heartbreaking to think I'll never talk to her again. I'd be too emotional the next time I see her husband now widow but seeing we're sons of 2 sisters we cannot lose contact, i learned past several months that I need to be closer to my family more than ever and say 'I love you' before it's too late,

I am from Fiji, in the South Pacific. My country also mourned for Norway's loss and moment of turbulence. I cried as we dedicate our afternoon prayers to Norway. Though we may be on the other side of the wide world, just remember that we are all humans and whatever happens to other countries affect us all. I now have dedicated the date through the years to have a moment of silence for my brothers and sisters in Norway. We love you all...This song when played for the memorial service made me cry and cry how innocent loved ones were massacred....

I think the video is a part of Laleh's own story: the long journey while fleeing Iran. And also a tribute as her father drowned in a river trying to save another (which he did) who fell from a canoe in a stream . That's the part that makes her authentic: conveying personal experience into art. She has a story to tell. Let's hear more!
