*In a world in which upstart DiY talent is flooding the gates of electronic music, a few recent voices have been so strong as to be startling. Lapalux - AKA 25-year-old Stuart Howard - is certainly one such. As singular as a brilliant artist always should be, his instinctive understanding of the atmospheric power of texture grips the ear immediately on listening. 'Nostalchic' is his debut album, mission statement, and the climax of many years of studying his craft. The amalgam of words that make the title is aptly, and perhaps knowingly chosen. The album evokes nostalgia without ever sounding nostalgic, and Howard may have had his tongue in his chic when he added the second half of the title. The album is his most focused document to date, adding his beloved R&B and soul into elements of house and hip hop, all with the trademark Lapalux finish; infectious, lopsided swing and achingly deep texture.

One Thing
Lapalux Lyrics

That heat from your body, the way that you pull me, oh, you do it so right.
You got me twistin and turnin, got me nervous tonight
So tell me one thing, so tell me one thing.
Am I the only one that's the lonely one, or is it you too?
If you see me with no make-up, in the morning when we wake up, will you feel it?
Can I ask you to be real, can you tell me how you feel, cause I wanna know
So tell me one thing, so tell me one thing.
Tell me.
Tell me
So tell me one thing.
Is this just a show?
Tell me, tell me
So tell me one thing
The lyrics of Lapalux's song One Thing talks about the feeling of intimacy and vulnerability with a lover. The first few lines talk about the physical closeness with the lover - feeling good in their arms and the heat from their body. The next line talks about the lover's ability to satisfy the singer's needs and do it right. However, despite the physical connection, the lyrics also hint at some insecurity and uncertainty. The lines "you got me twistin and turnin, got me nervous tonight" suggest some nervousness and uncertainty surrounding the relationship. This is further reinforced by the question "Am I the only one that's the lonely one, or is it you too?" which talks about the fear of being the only one feeling vulnerable in the relationship.
The lyrics then take a deeper turn as the singer asks for honesty and transparency from the lover. They ask if the lover will still feel the same way even after seeing them without makeup or in their most vulnerable state. The line "Can I ask you to be real, can you tell me how you feel, cause I wanna know" shows the deep longing for emotional intimacy and honest communication. The repeated line "So tell me one thing" adds a sense of urgency to the lyrics and highlights the desperation to know the truth about the relationship.
Overall, the lyrics of One Thing reveal a complex mix of physical intimacy and emotional vulnerability in a romantic relationship. It highlights the desire for honesty, transparency, and emotional intimacy with a lover.
