Time & Place
Last Dinosaurs Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

No one's cool all the time, sometimes not at all
Treasure hunt, hope you'd find what you're looking for

Nikola, we gotta make a difference
Nikola, we gotta make a difference

Everywhere that you cruise
Every world that you rule
Every line that you say
Has its time and its place

Every stare that you see
Everyone that you meet
Every line that you say
Has its time and its place, yeah

Visions move all the time, don't get left behind
This is love, this is faith, this is my design

Nikola, we gotta make a difference
Nikola, we gotta make a difference

Everywhere that you cruise
Every world that you rule
Every line that you say
Has its time and its place

Every stare that you see
Everyone that you meet
Every line that you say
Has its time and its place, yeah

We're all waiting,
For the world to stop rotating
We're all waiting,
For the world to stop rotating

Everywhere that you cruise
Every world that you rule
Every line that you say
Has its time and its place

Every stare that you see
Everyone that you meet
Every line that you say
Has its time and its place, yeah

We're all waiting,
For the world to stop rotating

We're all waiting,
For the world to stop rotating

Overall Meaning

In "Time & Place," Last Dinosaurs discuss the idea that everything has a specific moment and location where it is supposed to happen or exist. As the song progresses, the lyrics become more focused on the importance of making an impact and being inspirational. The first two lines of the song - "No one's cool all the time, sometimes not at all / Treasure hunt, hope you'd find what you're looking for" - set the tone for the rest of the tune. No one is perfect all the time, and sometimes you have to search to find what you want or need.

The following lines - "Everywhere that you cruise / Every world that you rule / Every line that you say / Has its time and its place" - emphasize the importance of timing and setting. The song's protagonist, named Nikola, is the subject of the next verse. "Visions move all the time, don't get left behind / This is love, this is faith, this is my design" - Nikola is urged to not fall behind the pace of change and to influence the world with their love and faith.

In the chorus, the band repeats "Everywhere that you cruise / Every world that you rule / Every line that you say / Has its time and its place." They are talking to everyone - anyone who wants to make a change in the world has to know when and where to speak up. The second verse repeats the chorus and then adds the lines " We're all waiting, / For the world to stop rotating." It indicates that everyone is waiting for a change, but the change will not happen on its own. Last Dinosaurs repeats the chorus twice more, and then the song ends on the same line: "We're all waiting / For the world to stop rotating."

That's what each and every single one of their songs from this album make me feel like. It is annoying and disturbing but equally divine and beautiful.

I love how all the comments to songs on this album are "this is the best song, this and that other one" because everyone is having an existential crisis over what is the best song. It's impossible. Everyone of their songs is priceless.
