Bit' će opet pokriveni snijegom moji puti
Donijet' ću tebi srce od kolača
Neka noćas ni u jednoj duši nema plača
Sretan Božić, Sretan Božić tebi želim ja
Sretan Božić, Sretan Božić i Nova Godina
Noćima bez sna, ti si mene vjerno čekala
Kada noćas s tornja katedrale
Polete u visinu naše želje male
Sretan Božić, Sretan Božić tebi želim ja
Sretan Božić, Sretan Božić i Nova Godina
Noćima bez sna, ti si mene vjerno čekala
Sretan Božić, Sretan Božić tebi želim ja
Sretan Božić, Sretan Božić i Nova Godina
Noćima bez sna, ti si mene vjerno čekala
Sretan Božić, Sretan Božić tebi želim ja
Sretan Božić, Sretan Božić i Nova Godina
Noćima bez sna, ti si mene vjerno čekala
In the first verse, the lyrics describe a scene where the city turns yellow from the light of the candles. This imagery creates a warm and cozy atmosphere. The singer mentions that their paths will be covered in snow again, implying a sense of nostalgia and familiarity. They also express the intention to bring their loved one a heart made of cake, symbolizing a sweet and heartfelt offering. The line "Neka noćas ni u jednoj duši nema plača" translates to "Let there be no tears in any soul tonight," suggesting a desire for joy and happiness during this special occasion.
The chorus repeats the phrase "Sretan Božić, Sretan Božić tebi želim ja" which means "Merry Christmas, Merry Christmas, I wish you." This repetitive and emphatic line expresses the singer's sincere and heartfelt wish of happiness to someone special. They also add "i Nova Godina" which translates to "and Happy New Year," extending their well wishes beyond Christmas.
The second verse mentions the cathedral tower, indicating a sense of grandeur and reverence. The singer states that our small wishes, represented by the flight of the tower, soar into the sky. This line reflects on the power and significance of our hopes and dreams during the holiday season, suggesting that they have the potential to reach higher heights.
The repetition of the chorus reinforces the message of extending warm wishes for a Merry Christmas and New Year. The line "Noćima bez sna, ti si mene vjerno čekala" translates to "In sleepless nights, you waited faithfully for me." This line signifies a deep and enduring love, with the singer acknowledging the commitment and loyalty of their loved one.
The overall interpretation of the song's lyrics revolves around the theme of celebrating Christmas and the New Year with love and joy. The singer wishes the listener a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year, expressing their desire for a night free of tears and filled with happiness. They also acknowledge the presence of a devoted partner who has patiently awaited their return. Through its poetic imagery and heartfelt sentiments, the song captures the essence of the holiday season and the importance of love and connection during these special occasions.
