Antechamber
Latitudes Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

I am not covered in thorns
Blunt body draped over me
We quarry for first light
Twofold into buried elementals
Of a hoped-for future
I am not covered in thorns
Nor am I covered in mould

Overall Meaning

The lyrics from Latitudes's song Antechamber seem to be exploring themes around hope, anticipation and transformation. The opening lines "I am not covered in thorns / Blunt body draped over me" refers to the idea that despite any difficulties or roughness in life, the subject is still able to move forward and withstand those challenges. The following line "We quarry for first light" suggests an effort to find the positive, to seek out something new or promising.

The lyrics continue with "Twofold into buried elementals / Of a hoped-for future" which could be interpreted as a reference to personal growth or transformation. The idea of "buried elementals" implies something that has been hidden or dormant and is now being brought to the surface. This could be a metaphor for self-discovery, acknowledging parts of oneself that were ignored or overlooked in the past. The final line "Nor am I covered in mold" reinforces the concept of change and renewal. The subject is not stagnant or stuck in old patterns but instead is moving forward, open to growth.

Overall, the lyrics of Antechamber convey a sense of hopefulness even in the face of difficulty. The song suggests that there is always the possibility for transformation and new beginnings, as long as we remain open to them.

@Ebvardh

Finest band I've heard in a while. Though I'm not sure I should call it sludge, doom or post-metal. Hell, I even hear some stoner in there, because it sounds bluesy and distant. Then again, I'm no expert and the last thing I want is some label deterring me from enjoying the music...
