D… Read Full Bio ↴Laura Fygi (born August 27, 1955, in Amsterdam) is a Dutch singer.
Daughter to a Dutch father, a manager at Philips, and an Egyptian mother, a belly dancer by profession, Fygi lived with her parents in South America for the first eight years of her life.
Between 1987 and 1991, she was a member of popular Dutch girl-band, Centerfold. During performances, the trio dressed themselves in sexy lingerie. They had hits in the Netherlands and all over Europe, and were equally famous in Japan.
In 1991, the ladies of Centerfold stopped performing and Fygi (together with Rowan Moore) started a band called The Backlot. After one performance in Dutch theatre Paradiso, an album was expected, but Mercury Records had already asked Fygi to make a solo album. This first album, Introducing Laura Fygi, comprised mostly jazz numbers, and was produced by Ruud Jacobs. In the album, Fygi was accompanied by celebrated Belgian musician Toots Thielemans.
La vie en rose
Laura Fygi Lyrics

They sang about in songs I′ve heard
It took your kisses to refuse
That I was wrong and love is real
Hold me close and hold me fast
This magic spell you cast
This is la vie en rose
And though I close my eyes
I see la vie en rose
When you press me to your heart
I'm in a world apart
A world where roses bloom
And when you speak, angels sing from above
Everyday words seem to turn into love songs
Give your heart and soul to me
And life will always be la vie en rose
When you press me to your heart
I′m in a world apart
A world where roses bloom
And when you speak, angels sing from above
Everyday words seem to turn into love songs
Give your heart and soul to me
And life will always be
La vie en rose
The lyrics of Laura Fygi's song La vie en rose express the transformative power of love. The first stanza captures the singer's skepticism towards love, which she believed to be just a word in songs she had heard before. However, when the singer is kissed by her lover, she realizes that she was wrong and that love is real. The second and third stanzas describe the impact of her lover's touch, which casts a magical spell on the singer, transporting her to a world where roses bloom, and everyday words turn into love songs. The singer feels that she is in a world apart when her lover presses her to his heart, and when he speaks, angels seem to sing from above. Finally, the singer expresses a desire for her lover to give her his heart and soul, so that life will always be la vie en rose, or the "life in pink."
Overall, the song is a tribute to the transformative power of love, which can turn the ordinary into the extraordinary. The use of imagery, such as roses blooming and angels singing, adds to the dreamy and romantic quality of the song.
